Recharging the Watch
This watch is powered by a light-sensitive panel and a rechargeable battery. Storing or wearing the watch in conditions where light is unavailable will deplete the battery charge. Try to place the watch in a light source for charging as often as possible.
- When not in use, leave the watch in a location accessible to light.
- Charging is faster when the watch is placed in a location with optimal illumination.
- Remember that charging efficiency decreases when any part of the solar panel is covered by clothing.
- Keep the watch uncovered for as long as possible. Charging time significantly increases if the watch face is partially covered.
Caution: If left to charge in bright light, the watch surface may become hot. Handle the watch with care to avoid burns. The watch surface can also become very hot in the following situations:
- On a car dashboard parked in the sun.
- Near an incandescent lamp.
- Under direct sunlight.
If you do not use the watch for an extended period, store it in a location accessible to light to help maintain the rechargeable battery's charge. The watch will continue to operate even when away from a bright light source. Prolonged use in darkness will deplete the rechargeable battery and may cause some functions to turn off. To ensure normal operation, remember to place the watch in an area with access to bright light.
Battery Charge Level
To check the battery charge level, observe the movement of the second hand [2]:
- If the second hand [2] moves smoothly at 1-second intervals, the battery charge level is 1. All functions operate normally.
- If the second hand [2] moves at 2-second intervals, the battery charge level is 2. Place the watch in a well-lit area for charging as soon as possible. The date indicator [7] will display '1' (initial position). Sound alarms, radio calibration reception, and countdown timer may not work.
- If the second hand [2] does not move, the battery charge level is 3. All functions are turned off. The watch will continue internal timekeeping for approximately 1 week. If the battery is charged during this period, the hands will automatically adjust to display the current time, and the watch will resume normal operation. If the battery is not charged, all watch settings (including current time) will be reset; after charging, the watch settings will return to their factory defaults.
Battery Recharge Recovery
Frequent use of sound alarms in a short period may cause the watch to enter an energy recovery mode. The watch will remain in this mode until the rechargeable battery's charge is restored, during which all watch functions will be inactive. The watch requires approximately 15 minutes to recover its rechargeable battery charge. After recovery, the hands will adjust to the correct positions, and normal watch functions will resume. Place the watch in a well-lit area for faster battery recharge recovery.

The times indicated above are for reference. Charging time depends on lighting conditions.
Energy Saving Mode
When the energy saving function is enabled, it automatically activates when the watch remains stationary for a long time. The table below shows how watch functions are affected by the energy saving mode.
- There are two energy saving modes: screen sleep and watch sleep.
- 60-70 minutes of inactivity: Second hand [2] stops at the 12 o'clock position. All functions are ON.
- 6-7 days of inactivity (full energy saving mode): All functions, including current time display, are OFF. Internal timekeeping continues.
The watch does not enter energy saving mode between 6:00 and 21:59. However, if the watch is already in energy saving mode at 6:00, it will remain in that mode. The watch does not enter energy saving mode during stopwatch or countdown timer operation.
Exiting Energy Saving Mode
To exit energy saving mode, place the watch in a well-lit area, press any button, or turn the watch towards you.
Radio-Controlled Time Calibration
The watch receives radio calibration signals to update the time. If signal reception is not possible for any reason, time can be set manually (refer to "Setting Current Time and Date Manually"). This section provides information on performing radio calibration if the Home City Code is set for Japan, North America, Europe, China, or other supported regions.
Home City Code | Location of Station |
LON (London), PAR (Paris), ATH (Athens) | Mainflingen (Germany), Anthorn (UK) |
HKG (Hong Kong) | Shangqiu (China) |
TYO (Tokyo) | Fukushima, Fukuoka/Saga (Japan) |
NYC (New York), CHI (Chicago), DEN (Denver), LAX (Los Angeles), ANC (Anchorage), HNL (Honolulu) | Fort Collins, Colorado (USA) |
Caution: Some areas of HNL (Honolulu) and ANC (Anchorage) are far from signal transmission stations, which may result in poor signal reception. If HNL or ANC is set as the Home City Code, only the date and time will be adjusted after receiving the radio calibration signal. Standard/Daylight Saving Time must be set manually for these city codes.
Approximate Reception Range
Even if the watch is within the transmitter's range, reception may be reduced or impossible if the signal is blocked by mountains, tall buildings, adverse weather conditions, or radio interference. Signal strength also decreases at distances over 500 km from the transmitter. Reception may be impossible at distances beyond those specified below, or at certain times of the year or day. Radio interference can also cause reception problems.
- Mainflingen (Germany) or Anthorn (UK): 500 km (310 miles)
- Fort Collins (USA): 1000 km (600 miles)
- Fukushima or Fukuoka/Saga (Japan): 500 km (310 miles)
- Shangqiu (China): 1500 km (910 miles)
As of December 2014, China does not observe Daylight Saving Time (DST). If China adopts DST in the future, some functions of this watch may not work correctly.

If the home position of the second hand [2] is not the 12 o'clock position, use [Button D] to move the second hand [2] to the 12 o'clock position. Press [Button C] to proceed to setting the next parameter in the following sequence: Second Hand [2] -> Hour [1] / Minute [3] / 24-Hour [5] Hands -> Right Dial Hands [6] -> Left Dial Hand [4] -> Date Indicator [7].
3. After correcting the home position of the second hand [2], press [Button C] to proceed to correcting the home position of the hour [1] and minute [3] hands. The home position for the hour [1] and minute [3] hands is the 12 o'clock position. The lower dial hand [5] moves synchronously with the hour hand [1]; separate correction is not needed for it. If the hour [1] and minute [3] hands do not move to the home position, use [Button D] (+) and [Button B] (-) to move them to the 12 o'clock position. Press [Button C] to proceed.
4. After correcting the home position of the hour [1] and minute [3] hands, press [Button C] to proceed to correcting the home position of the right dial hands [6]. The home position for the right dial hands [6] is the 12 o'clock position. If they do not move to the home position, use [Button D] (+) and [Button B] (-) to move them to the 12 o'clock position. Press [Button C] to proceed.
5. After correcting the home position of the right dial hands [6], press [Button C] to proceed to correcting the home position of the left dial hand [4]. The home position for the left dial hand [4] is the 12 o'clock position. If it does not move to the home position, use [Button D] (+) and [Button B] (-) to move it to the 12 o'clock position. Press [Button C] to proceed.
6. After correcting the home position of the left dial hand [4], press [Button C] to proceed to correcting the home position of the date indicator [7]. The home position for the date indicator [7] is '1'. If this value is not displayed, use [Button D] (+) or [Button B] (-) to set it to 1.
7. Press [Button A] to return to Current Time mode. The date indicator [7] will display the current date, and then the hour [1] and minute [3] hands will move to display the current time. Wait for the hands to stop moving before performing any other actions.
Troubleshooting
Hand Position and Movement:
- Cannot understand current mode: Refer to "Mode Selection". To return to Current Time mode from any mode, hold [Button C] for approximately 2 seconds.
- Second hand moves in 2-second intervals / All hands at 12 o'clock, buttons unresponsive: Low battery. Place the watch in a well-lit area to recharge the battery until the second hand [2] moves smoothly at 1-second intervals.
- Watch hands move fast when I am not performing any operations: This may be due to one of the following reasons. Fast hand movement does not indicate a malfunction:
- The watch is exiting energy saving mode (refer to "Energy Saving Mode").
- Time is being corrected after a successful radio calibration signal reception.
- The watch is automatically returning to Current Time mode from Alarm mode.
- Watch hands suddenly stopped, buttons unresponsive: The watch may be in battery recharge recovery mode. Do not perform any operations for approximately 15 minutes until the hands resume normal movement. The hands should return to displaying the current time and resume normal movement. Place the watch in a well-lit area for faster battery recharge recovery.
- Incorrect hour display: Check the Home City Code setting. Change this setting if necessary.
- Watch gains or loses an hour: If you are in a location where radio calibration signals cannot be received, you must set the current time manually. If you are using the watch in a location that does not support radio calibration signal reception, you must manually set the Standard (STD) / Daylight Saving (DST) time.
- Watch shows incorrect time and/or date: The watch may have been exposed to strong magnetic fields or shocks. You must perform the analog time correction procedure.
World Time:
- Incorrect World Time display (right dial hands [6] in World Time mode): The Home City Code and/or Standard (STD) / Daylight Saving (DST) time setting is incorrect. Correct the Home City Code and/or Standard (STD) / Daylight Saving (DST) time.
- World Time right dial hands [6] display time with a 1-hour difference: The Standard/Daylight Saving Time setting for the selected World Time city code is incorrect. Check the Standard/Daylight Saving Time setting for the selected World Time city code.
Charging:
- Watch does not resume operation after being placed in light: This can happen when the rechargeable battery charge level drops to Level 3. Continue to expose the watch to light to charge the battery until the second hand [2] resumes smooth movement (at 1-second intervals).
- Second hand [2] initially moved at 1-second intervals, then started moving at 2-second intervals: The watch is not yet sufficiently charged. Place the watch in light for further battery charging.
Radio Calibration Signal:
- Second hand [2] is in the N (No) position when I check the result of the last radio calibration signal reception:
- Possible Causes: You moved the watch or performed an operation during signal reception. The watch is in a location with poor signal reception conditions.
- Solution: Ensure the watch is in a location accessible for signal reception, do not perform any operations or move the watch during reception. You are in an area where reception is impossible. Refer to "Approximate Reception Range".
- Possible Causes: Signal is not transmitted for some reason. The manually set current time has changed.
- Solution: Check the website of the signal transmission organization for information on possible equipment malfunctions. Try receiving the signal again later. Check the Home City Code, Daylight Saving Time (DST), and automatic radio calibration signal reception settings.
- Time is off by 1 hour: The radio calibration signal was not received for some reason on the day DST was supposed to change. Place the watch in a position where it can receive the radio calibration signal. Time will be automatically set after the watch successfully receives the signal. If radio calibration signal reception is impossible, manually set the Standard/Daylight Saving time.
- Automatic radio calibration signal reception is impossible, or I cannot manually receive the radio calibration signal:
- Possible Causes: The watch is in Stopwatch or Countdown Timer mode. The Home City Code is set incorrectly. A countdown is in progress. The rechargeable battery charge level is low.
- Solution: The watch does not receive radio calibration signals automatically if it is in Stopwatch or Countdown Timer mode. Hold [Button C] for approximately 2 seconds to enter Current Time mode. Check the Home City Code and adjust if necessary. The watch does not receive radio calibration signals automatically or manually when a countdown is in progress. Go to Countdown Timer mode, stop the countdown, and return to Current Time mode. Place the watch in light to charge the rechargeable battery.
