INKBIRD IHC-200 Humidity Controller

01 Introduction

What is the IHC-200 device?

The IHC-200 is an easy-to-use, safe, and reliable humidity controller with a dual relay output and a dual LED display. It is a plug-n-play device that requires no complex wiring and can control any type of humidifier, dehumidifier, or fan powered by 220 Volts.

  • Ability to operate in Humidification and De-Humidification modes.
  • Ability to set the desired humidity value and a control differential value.
  • Ability to calibrate the humidity measurement detected by the probe.
  • Ability to define a time interval between 2 successive activations of the de-humidifying/cooling element for compressor protection (delay protection).
  • Detection of the ambient temperature in the area to be humidified/dehumidified.
  • Ability to set 2 alarm thresholds for detecting humidity values above/below the set points.
  • Alarm signal for sensor or device malfunction.

Safety Precautions

Ensure the product is used according to specifications:

  • Do not touch the terminals when power is present. This could cause injury or electric shock.
  • Do not allow metal parts, wire scraps, or metal filings from installation to enter the product. This could cause electric shock, fire, or malfunctions.
  • Do not use the product in locations with flammable or explosive gases. Doing so could result in injuries due to explosions.
  • Do not disassemble, modify, or repair the product, or touch any internal components. This could cause electric shock, fire, or malfunctions.
  • If the output relays are used beyond their lifespan, fusion or burning due to contact may occur. Always consider the application conditions and use the relays within their rated load and electrical lifespan.

03 Device Description

The device features a main unit with two LED displays and several indicators and buttons, along with interchangeable socket types for different regions.

Device Components:

  • ① PV Display: Shows measured process parameters from the probe. In normal operation, it displays the measured humidity. In configuration mode, it shows the parameter name being modified. Pressing both arrow buttons simultaneously displays the measured temperature.
  • ② SV Display: Shows set process parameters. In operational mode, it displays the desired humidity value. In configuration mode, it shows the value of the parameter being modified.
  • ③ De-Humidification Indicator:
    • On: De-Humidification function is active.
    • Off: De-Humidification function is inactive.
    • Flashing: Protection delay for the de-humidification device is active.
  • ④ Humidification Indicator:
    • On: Humidification function is active.
    • Off: Humidification function is inactive.
  • ⑤ SET Button: Press and hold for 3 seconds to enter the configuration menu. Press and hold for 3 seconds after modifying parameters to save and exit configuration.
  • ⑥ Down Arrow Button: In operational mode, press to view the set value for the DD parameter. In configuration mode, press to decrease the value of the current parameter.
  • ⑦ Up Arrow Button: In operational mode, press to view the set value for the HD parameter. In configuration mode, press to increase the value of the current parameter.
  • ⑧ Humidifier Socket: Outlet for connecting a humidifier.
  • ⑨ De-Humidifier Socket: Outlet for connecting a dehumidifier.

Socket Types: The device is available with different socket configurations for various regions:

04 Instructions for Use

4.1 Power On/Off

To turn off the device, press and hold the [Down Arrow] and [Up Arrow] buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds.

To turn on the device, press and hold the [Down Arrow] and [Up Arrow] buttons simultaneously for 1 second.

4.2 Viewing Differential Values

In operational mode:

  • Press the [Up Arrow] button to view the set value for the humidification differential (HD).
  • Press the [Down Arrow] button to view the set value for the de-humidification differential (DD).

The display automatically returns to normal mode after 2 seconds.

4.3 Viewing Measured Temperature

Press and hold the [Up Arrow] and [Down Arrow] buttons simultaneously to view the measured temperature from the device's probe on the upper display. The display automatically returns to normal mode after 2 seconds.

4.4 How to Set Configuration Parameters

In operational mode, press and hold the [SET] button for 3 seconds to enter configuration mode. The upper display will show the name of the first parameter (e.g., "HS"), and the lower display will show its set value.

Press the [SET] button again to cycle through the other configuration parameters. Use the [Up Arrow] and [Down Arrow] buttons to modify the values for each parameter.

Press and hold the [SET] button for 3 seconds to save the changes and return to normal operational mode.

If no activity is detected for 10 seconds during configuration mode, the device will automatically return to operational mode without saving the changes.

05 Configuration Parameters

Press the [SET] button for over 3 seconds to access the parameter setting mode.

  • HS: Desired Humidity Value (e.g., 50%RH)
  • HD: Humidification Differential Value (e.g., 5%RH)
  • DD: De-Humidification Differential Value (e.g., 5%RH)
  • AH: High Humidity Alarm Threshold (e.g., 99%RH)
  • AL: Low Humidity Alarm Threshold (e.g., 0%RH)
  • PT: Delay Protection (e.g., 1 minute)
  • CA: Calibration Compensation Value (e.g., 0%RH)

The device operates normally after configuration.

5.1 Temperature Control Range Setting (HS, DS, DD)

In operational mode, the device detects and displays the measured humidity value before operating in Humidification/De-Humidification mode.

De-Humidification

When the measured humidity (PV) is ≥ HS+DD (HS=desired humidity value, DD=de-humidification differential value), the indicator light turns on, and the device output is powered.

When the measured humidity reaches the HS value, the indicator light turns off, and the device output is de-energized.

Humidification

When the measured humidity (PV) is ≤ HS-DS (HS=desired humidity value, DS=humidification differential value), the indicator light turns on, and the device output is powered to humidify.

When the measured humidity reaches the HS value, the indicator light turns off, and the device output is de-energized.

5.2 Humidity and Temperature Alarm Limits (AH, AL)

The AH and AL parameters can be set independently. If the measured humidity PV is greater than the AH parameter value or less than the AL parameter value, the device will emit an alarm signal.

When the alarm is active, the measured value and the alarm code will flash on the display, and the device will emit a "BI-BI-BIII" sound. The alarm sound can be stopped by pressing any key, but the alarm state will not change until the measured value returns to normal limits.

5.3 Compressor Delay (PT)

In de-humidification mode, after power-on, if the measured humidity PV is greater than or equal to the sum of the desired humidity value HS and the humidification differential value DD (PV≥HS+DD), the device can start de-humidification/cooling immediately or after a user-set delay.

If the time interval between two de-humidifications is greater than the preset delay, the device will start de-humidifying immediately.

Otherwise, if the time interval between two de-humidifications is less than the preset delay, the device will start de-humidifying at the end of the preset delay.

The delay time is calculated once at the end of the de-humidification cycle.

5.4 Device Calibration (CA)

If there is a deviation between the measured value and the actual value, the device can be calibrated by adjusting the CA parameter. The corrected value will be equal to the measured value before calibration +/- the value attributed to the CA parameter (positive, zero, or negative value).

06 Error/Malfunction Notice

Sensor Failure Alarm: When the sensor is short-circuited or open-circuited, the device enters a fault mode, interrupting all operations and signaling the condition with an audible alarm and the text "ER" on the display. The audible alarm can be silenced by pressing any key. The device will return to normal operation once the fault is resolved.

INKBIRD TECH. C.L. guarantees this product for one year from the date of purchase, provided it is used by the original purchaser under normal conditions, against defects in factory workmanship or materials. This warranty is limited to the repair or replacement, at INKBIRD's discretion, of all or part of the thermostat. The original proof of purchase is required for warranty claims.

INKBIRD is not responsible for damages or injuries caused to the user or third parties resulting directly from actual or presumed manufacturing defects of the product.
