Minelab EQUINOX Series Metal Detectors

Quick Start Guide and Specifications

Assembly

Follow these steps to assemble your EQUINOX series detector.

1. Attach the Coil to the Lower Shaft

  1. Insert the two rubber washers into the 4 holes on each side of the fork.
  2. Slide the fork into the mounting at the top of the coil. Ensure the lower shaft spring pin is underneath.
  3. Insert the plastic bolt through the fork and the fork mounting.
  4. Secure everything with the plastic bolt – do not overtighten.

2. Assemble the Shafts

  1. Loosen the locking collars by turning them counter-clockwise.
  2. Press the lower shaft spring pin and slide it into the middle shaft until the pin reaches the adjustment holes. The pin will click into place.
  3. Attach the middle shaft to the upper shaft in the same way.
  4. Lock the shafts by turning the collars clockwise.

3. Attach the Armrest/Mount

  1. Place the armrest on top of the upper shaft.
  2. Position the armrest just below your elbow, then align the center hole of the armrest with the closest hole in the shaft.
  3. Insert the screw through the bracket, upper shaft, and armrest. Gently tighten the screw.
  4. With the velcro strap facing upwards, thread the armrest strap through both slots in the armrest. Ensure the end of the strap is secured outwards relative to your arm.

4. Connect the Coil

  1. Coil the coil cable around the lower and middle shafts enough times to take up slack.
  2. Use the provided velcro straps to secure the coil cable against the shaft.
  3. Align the coil connector and plug it into the socket on the rear of the control box, gently tightening the locking ring.

Charge the Battery

EQUINOX series detectors are equipped with a rechargeable internal lithium-ion battery. Before first use, it is recommended to fully charge the battery. For faster charging, turn off the detector while charging.

  1. Plug the USB connector of the magnetic charging cable into any powered standard USB port.
  2. Connect the magnetic charger connector to the socket located on the rear of the detector's user interface.
  3. The charging status indicator [charging-indicator] in the top-left corner of the user interface will blink regularly.
  4. When charging is complete, the charging status indicator [charging-indicator] will remain lit.
