Assembly Instructions
Follow these steps to assemble your EQUINOX search device:
- Attach Coil to Lower Shaft: Insert the coil into the lower shaft. Secure it using the plastic screw and washer. Ensure it is snug but not overtightened.
- Assemble Shafts:
- Connect the lower shaft to the middle shaft. Slide the middle shaft into the upper shaft, ensuring the spring-loaded pin clicks into place.
- Insert the plastic screw through the upper shaft and into the middle shaft to secure.
- Attach Armrest and Control Box:
- Slide the armrest onto the upper shaft, positioning it below the bracket. Insert the plastic screw and tighten.
- Align the control box with the bracket on the armrest and slide it into place.
- Manage Coil Cable: Route the coil cable along the lower and middle shafts, securing it with the attached Velcro straps. Connect the coil plug to the control box.
Battery Charging
The EQUINOX Series devices contain rechargeable Lithium-ion batteries. Charge the battery fully before first use. For faster charging, do not use the device while charging.
- Connect the USB cable's standard USB connector to a standard USB power port.
- Connect the magnetic charging connector to the charging port on the rear of the control box. The LED on the control screen will illuminate.
- The LED will turn solid when charging is complete.

Quick Start Guide: 4 Easy Steps
- Power On: Press the power button on the side of the control box. The device requires approximately 4 hours for a full charge before first use.
- Select Search Mode: Choose the mode and profile best suited for your location. The EQUINOX 800 is shown in the display.
- Noise Cancel: Access the settings menu, select Noise Cancel, and then press the automatic noise cancel button. This process takes about 8 seconds.
- Start Detecting: Press the search button to return to the search screen and begin detecting.
Search Modes
Each search mode offers two distinct profiles for different searching scenarios:
- Park: Best for trashy areas and general searches.
- Field: Most suitable for searching for objects of various sizes.
- Beach: Ideal for salty environments, including dry sand, wet sand, and underwater conditions.
- Gold: Best for finding gold nuggets and prospecting.
Control Panel Overview
Adjust and view your search settings on the control panel:
- Power Button: Short press to turn the device on/off. Long press (5 seconds) to reset the device to factory settings.
- Backlight: Adjust backlight brightness or turn it on/off. An icon indicates when the backlight is active.
- Sensitivity: Displayed in 25 levels. Use the '–' and '+' buttons to adjust sensitivity.
- Search Mode Button: Quick press to cycle through search modes. Long press (5 seconds) to reset to factory settings.
- Settings Menu Button: Quick press to access the basic settings menu. Long press to access the advanced settings menu.
- Battery Status: The LED indicates charging status. A solid LED means the battery is fully charged.
- Target ID (VDI): Numerical display showing target identification. Ranges from 1-99, with iron targets typically in the 0-40 range and non-ferrous targets in the 1-40 range.
- Frequency: Displays the current operating frequency (e.g., 5, 10, 15, 20, 40 kHz). Pressing the frequency button cycles through available frequencies within the current profile.
- Wireless Options: Connect to WM 08 audio modules or Bluetooth headphones. The WM 08 can pair with up to 4 audio modules simultaneously.
- Depth Indicator: Shows estimated target depth in 5 levels.
- User Profile: Save your current settings as a user profile. Long press the User Profile button to save. Quick press to toggle saved user profiles on/off.
- Notch Discrimination: Accept or reject specific Target IDs. This can be done via the settings menu or by pressing the Accept/Reject button when a target is detected.
- Iron Bias: Adjusts the response to iron targets.
- Pinpoint: Press and hold the Pinpoint button to accurately locate the center of a target.
- Ground Balance: Adjusts for ground mineralization. Options include automatic and manual settings.
- Volume: Adjust the audio volume level.
- Threshold: Adjust the background audio level.
Audio Options
The EQUINOX Series devices feature a built-in speaker and offer extensive audio options, including wireless connectivity. You can connect to WM 08 wireless audio modules or Bluetooth headphones (aptX™ Low Latency supported).
Advanced Settings
Access advanced settings via the settings menu for finer control over detection parameters such as:
- Ground Balance: Automatic or manual adjustment.
- Noise Cancel: Automatic or manual.
- Volume Control: Adjust audio volume.
- Iron Bias: Adjust response to iron.
- Notch Discrimination: Fine-tune target separation (e.g., 50 segments).
- Target ID: Separate iron and non-ferrous targets.
- Frequency: Select operating frequencies.
- Pinpoint: For precise target location.
