Battery Safety:
- Charge batteries only with the charger recommended by the manufacturer.
- Use only batteries intended for the specific tool.
- Keep batteries away from metal objects like paper clips, coins, or keys to prevent short circuits.
- Do not expose batteries to heat or fire.
- If battery fluid leaks, avoid contact and rinse with water. Seek medical attention if fluid gets into eyes.
- Charge batteries within the specified temperature range (0°C to 40°C).
- Store batteries in a cool, dry place, ideally below 25°C.
- Do not cover the charger or the product with battery during charging.
- If smoke or fire occurs during charging, immediately disconnect the power supply.
Specific Safety for Hedge Trimmers:
- Keep body parts away from the cutting blade.
- Do not attempt to remove trimmed material while the blade is moving.
- Always attach the blade guard when transporting or storing the shear.
- Hold the shear by the insulated grip surfaces only.
Operation
Charging the Battery:
- Connect the battery charger to a power outlet.
- Connect the battery to the charging port. The charging indicator light will show the charging status.
- Check the charging status regularly.
- Once fully charged, disconnect the battery cable and then the charger from the power outlet.
Battery Charge Indicator [Fig. O2]:
- Charging: Light flashes green.
- Fully Charged: Lights L1, L2, and L3 are solid green.
Using the Shear:
- Without Telescopic Handle [Fig. O5]: Hold the handle, slide the switch lock forward, and press the start trigger.
- With Telescopic Handle [Fig. O6]: The switch lock and start trigger on the handle do not function. Operate the shear using the controls on the telescopic handle.
- Stopping the Shear: Release the start trigger. Wait for the blade to stop completely and slide the blade guard over the blade.
Handle Adjustment (ComfortCut Li only) [Fig. O3]:
The handle can be adjusted in 5 positions for personalized comfort. Press the hinge adjustment buttons on both sides and set the handle to the desired angle.
Replacing the Blade [Fig. O4]:
- Press the release buttons on both sides and remove the blade.
- Install the desired blade (GARDENA grass and shrub blade, art. 9862, or GARDENA shrub blade, art. 9863).
Maintenance
Cleaning the Shear [Fig. M1]:
- Do not clean the product with water or a water jet.
- Do not use chemicals, including gasoline or solvents.
- Clean the product with a damp cloth.
- Lubricate the blade with GARDENA maintenance spray (art. 2366) to prolong its life and maintain performance. Avoid contact of the oil with plastic parts.
Cleaning the Battery Charger:
Ensure the surface and contacts of the charging port and charger are clean and dry before connecting the charger.
Storage
Putting the Product Out of Operation:
- Charge the battery.
- Clean the shear and the battery charger.
- Store the shear and charger in a dry, locked place inaccessible to children and protected from frost.
Disposal:
Dispose of the product and battery according to local environmental regulations. Do not dispose of with household waste.
Troubleshooting
