- Avoid accidental starts: ensure the tool is switched off and the battery is removed before connecting to power, picking up, or carrying.
- Do not overreach; maintain proper footing and balance.
- Wear suitable clothing; avoid loose clothing, jewelry, or long hair that could get caught in moving parts.
Tool-Specific Safety
- Keep hands and feet away from the blades.
- Do not remove cut material or hold material to be cut while the blades are moving. Blades continue to move after power is switched off.
- Always attach the blade cover when transporting or storing the tool.
Battery Safety
- Use only the specified charger and battery type (GARDENA System POWER FOR ALL PBA 18V).
- Do not expose batteries to fire or extreme temperatures (above 130°C).
- Do not short-circuit battery terminals.
- Handle leaking battery fluid with care; rinse with water if contact occurs.
- Do not use damaged or modified batteries.
- Charge batteries only within specified temperature ranges (0°C to +35°C).
- Keep batteries away from children.
Intended Use
This product is intended for cutting grass edges and precise border shaping, as well as trimming bushes and hedges in private domestic and non-professional gardens.
It is not suitable for continuous professional use.
Children aged 8 and above may use the appliance under supervision. Persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, may use it if supervised or instructed on safe use. Children must not play with the product. Cleaning and maintenance should not be done by children without supervision. Use by persons under 16 years of age is not recommended.
Operation
Changing Blades
- Press the safety release buttons on both sides and remove the blade.
- Insert the other blade until it clicks into place.
- Ensure the blade is securely engaged.
Starting and Stopping
The tool is equipped with a two-hand safety device (starter lever with safety lock).
- Insert the battery until it clicks into place.
- Push the safety lock forward and pull the starter lever towards the handle to start.
- Release the starter lever to stop the tool. Wait for the blade to stop.
- Slide the protective cover over the blade.
- Remove the battery.
Maintenance
Cleaning the Tool
- Clean the tool with a damp cloth. Do not use water under pressure, solvents, or gasoline.
- Spray the blade with GARDENA Care Spray (Code 2366), avoiding contact with plastic parts.
- Ensure ventilation slots are always clean.
Cleaning the Battery and Charger
Ensure battery and charger contacts are clean and dry before charging. Do not use running water.
Storage
- Store the product in a place inaccessible to children.
- Remove the battery.
- Charge the battery.
- Clean the tool, battery, and charger.
- Store in a dry, locked, frost-free place.
