Quick Start Guide

Discrimination Mode (Non-ferrous Metals)

For detecting non-ferrous metals:

  1. Set the mode switch to Disc (Discrimination).
  2. Turn on the detector: Rotate the threshold knob clockwise until it clicks. Continue turning until the audio signal becomes just barely audible.

  4. Set the Sensitivity control to Auto or to the highest manual setting that does not produce false signals from electrical interference.
  5. Begin your search.

Pinpoint / All Metals Mode (All Metal Types)

For detecting all types of metals:

  1. Set the mode switch to Pinpoint / All Metals.
  2. Turn on the detector: Rotate the threshold knob clockwise until it clicks. Continue turning until the audio signal becomes just barely audible.
  3. Set the Sensitivity control to Auto or to the highest manual setting that does not produce false signals from electrical interference.
  4. Begin your search.

Controls

Description of the main controls on the Minelab Excalibur II:

Control Function
Mode Selector Switch Selects operating mode: Disc, Pinpoint/All Metals, or Off.
Threshold Knob Sets the background audio level. Should be set to a faint, constant hum when the detector is on.
Sensitivity Knob Adjusts the detector's sensitivity to targets. Can be set to Auto or manual.
Volume Knob Controls the audio output volume.
Discriminate Knob Adjusts the level of discrimination, allowing the user to ignore certain types of metal.
Sub-Aqua Knob Adjusts settings for underwater operation.

Note: Control labels are available in multiple languages including Polish, French, Spanish, Chinese, Italian, and Russian.

Battery Information

Low Battery Alarm

When the battery level is critically low, the threshold tone will gradually increase in volume, eventually becoming a loud, continuous signal, indicating the need for charging.
