Minelab Excalibur II Getting Started Guide
This guide provides essential information for assembling and operating your Minelab Excalibur II metal detector.
Assembly
Follow these steps to assemble your Excalibur II metal detector:
- Attach the Armrest to the Upper Shaft.
- Attach the Control Cylinder to the Upper shaft.
- Connect the Battery Pack to the Upper Shaft.
- Attach the Lower Shaft to the Coil.
- Attach the Upper Shaft to the Lower Shaft.
- Wrap the Coil Cable around the shaft.
Quick Start
Discriminate Mode
For detecting non-ferrous metals.
- Set the mode switch to Disc (Discriminate). [Mode Switch: Disc / Pinpoint / All Metals]
- Turn the detector On by turning the Threshold control clockwise until it clicks. Continue turning until the audio tone becomes just audible. [Threshold Control Dial]
- Set the desired position of the Discriminate control. [Discriminate Control Dial]
- Set the Sensitivity control to Auto or at the maximum manual setting without electrical interference. [Sensitivity Control Dial]
- Begin detecting.
Pinpoint / All Metals Mode
For detecting all types of metals.
- Set the mode switch to Pinpoint / All Metals. [Mode Switch: Disc / Pinpoint / All Metals]
- Turn the detector On by turning the Threshold control clockwise until it clicks. Continue turning until the audio tone becomes just audible. [Threshold Control Dial]
- Set the Sensitivity control to Auto or at the maximum manual setting without electrical interference. [Sensitivity Control Dial]
- Begin detecting.

Battery
Low battery alarm
When the battery level is very low, the threshold tone will gradually increase to a loud continuous signal.
Charging
