Battery Safety & Disposal

Lithium Battery Safety:

  • High energy density cells require special care. JAMARA excludes liability for damages from incorrect handling.
  • Risk of fire or chemical burns from improper use.
  • Overcharging, high currents, or deep discharge destroys the cell.
  • Protect from mechanical stress (squeezing, bending, drilling).
  • Never open, cut, throw batteries into fire, or keep away from children.
  • Handle damaged or leaking batteries with extreme care to avoid injury or damage.
  • Never short-circuit batteries; always observe correct polarity.
  • Protect batteries from heat above 65°C and mount away from hot parts (e.g., exhaust).
  • Charge batteries before storage (e.g., winter). Do not store fully discharged or fully charged. Check charge level periodically during long-term storage.
  • Cell contents are harmful to skin and eyes. If contact occurs, wash with plenty of water and remove contaminated clothing. For eye contact, rinse with water and consult a doctor.
  • If a cell overheats, swells, smokes, or burns, do not touch it. Maintain safe distance and use appropriate extinguishing agents (dry sand, fire extinguisher, fire blanket, salt water - NOT water due to explosion risk).

Disposal:

  • Batteries and accumulators must not be disposed of in domestic waste; they must be disposed of separately.
  • Return used batteries to designated collection points or retail stores.
  • Separate collection and proper recycling are important for the environment and health due to potentially irritating, allergenic, or highly reactive substances in batteries.
  • Batteries marked with Hg, Cd, or Pb below the crossed-out waste bin symbol contain mercury, cadmium, or lead above specified limits.
  • Electrical appliances must not be disposed of in domestic waste; they must be disposed of separately. Remove batteries if possible and take electrical equipment to communal collection points. Remove any personal data yourself before disposal.
