Using the Remote
The remote control allows you to operate your VIZIO TV. Below are the primary buttons and their functions:
- Power/Standby
- Turns the TV on or off.
- Input
- Changes the input device.
- A/V Controls
- Controls external CEC-enabled devices.
- Info
- Displays the Info Window.
- CC (Closed Captioning)
- Opens the Closed Captioning menu.
- Menu
- Displays the on-screen menu.
- Exit
- Closes the on-screen menu.
- Arrow Buttons
- Navigate the on-screen menu and episode guide.
- OK
- Selects the highlighted menu option.
- Back
- Goes to the previous on-screen menu option.
- Guide
- Displays the episode guide (for digital channels only).
- VIA Shortcuts
- Controls VIZIO Internet Apps.
- Volume Up/Down
- Increases or decreases the TV's audio loudness.
- Channel Up/Down
- Changes the channel.
- VIA
- Starts VIA Internet Apps.
- Mute
- Turns the sound off or on.
- Last
- Returns to the last viewed channel.
- Number Pad
- Manually enters a channel number.
- Dash (-)
- Used with the number pad to enter a digital sub-channel (e.g., 18-4).
- Wide
- Switches between display modes.
Installing the Base
- Place the TV screen-down on a clean, flat, and soft surface (such as carpet, rug, or blanket) to prevent scratches or damage to the screen.
- Align the stand with the pre-drilled holes on the back of the TV.
- Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, attach the base to the TV by inserting and tightening the included screws.
- Carefully move the TV with the attached stand into an upright position and place it on a flat, level, and stable surface.
- Use the included security cable to fix the TV to the nearest wall. This helps prevent the TV from falling over due to earthquakes or accidents.
First-Time Setup
- Remote Setup: Remove the battery cover by pressing gently on the arrow indicator and sliding it away from the remote. Insert the batteries, ensuring the '+' and '-' symbols on the batteries correspond to the '+' and '-' symbols inside the battery compartment. Replace the battery cover by gently sliding it back into place.
- Power Connection: Connect the power cord to the back of the TV and plug the other end into an electrical outlet.
- Signal and Network Connections:
- If you have an external antenna or a cable connection from a wall outlet, connect it to the TV using an RF/Coaxial cable.
- If you have a high-speed internet connection, connect an Ethernet cable to the back of the TV.
- Initial TV Setup: Turn the TV on by pressing the Power/Standby button on the remote. The Setup App will be displayed. Use the Arrow buttons on the remote to highlight "Home Mode Setup" and press OK.
- Accept Terms: Read and accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy for Yahoo! TV Widgets. Highlight "Next" and press OK.
- Network Connection (Wireless): If connecting wirelessly, select the name of your wireless network from the list of available networks and press OK. Enter your network key using the on-screen keyboard, then highlight "Connect" and press OK. (Note: This screen will not appear if the TV is connected via an Ethernet cable).
- User Information: Enter your First Name, Last Name, Phone Number, ZIP Code, and E-mail Address using the on-screen keyboard. Highlight "Next" and press OK.
- TV Signal Setup: Answer the on-screen questions about your TV connection using the Arrow and OK buttons on the remote. After the channel scan is complete, highlight "Exit to Live TV" and press OK. The First-Time Setup is now complete.
Connecting Your Devices
To achieve the best high-resolution picture and sound, connect your external devices to your VIZIO TV using appropriate cables.

Connection Options:
Best Picture: Use a High Speed HDMI Cable to connect devices like Blu-ray/DVD players or game consoles to the TV's HDMI port.
Better Picture: Use a Component Video Cable along with an Audio Cable to connect to the Component and Audio ports on the TV.
Good Picture: Use a Composite AV Cable to connect to the Composite AV ports on the TV.
Note: Cables are not included with the TV.

How to Use VIA:
- Turn the TV on and press the VIA button on the remote control.
- Ensure your TV is connected to a high-speed internet connection.
- To start an app, use the Left/Right Arrow buttons to highlight an app from the App Bar (typically located in the lower left corner of the screen) and press OK.
- Once an app is started, use the Arrow, OK, and VIA Shortcut buttons on the remote to control the app's functions, such as viewing settings, exiting the app, changing screen size, or moving/deleting apps from the dock.

Common Troubleshooting Issues:
- There is no power.
- Ensure the power cord is securely connected to the TV and a working electrical outlet. Press the Power/Standby button on the remote or TV. Try plugging the power cord into a different electrical outlet.
- There is a picture, but there is no sound.
- Press the Volume Up button on the remote or TV. Press the MUTE button on the remote to ensure Mute is off. Press MENU, then select TV Settings > Audio. Ensure TV Speakers is set to On.
- The picture quality seems low.
- View high-definition (HD) programs when possible. Ensure all cables are securely connected. If using an antenna, check the signal strength and ensure your antenna is connected securely to the TV and positioned optimally (e.g., near a window).
- I cannot return to the Setup App.
- Press MENU, then select Help > System Reset > Start Setup Wizard. Enter your PIN (default is 0000) and select Yes.
- There are black/gray bars on the top/bottom/sides of the picture.
- Set the TV to Wide or Zoom Mode via MENU > Wide. Adjust the video settings of your external device (e.g., Blu-ray™ or DVD player). If using an RGB (computer) input, ensure you are using a supported desktop resolution. Note that some television channels may display black bars.
- The TV does not respond when I press buttons on the remote control.
- Insert new batteries into the remote. Point the remote directly at the TV's sensor and ensure nothing is blocking the sensor.
- The TV displays “No Signal”
- Ensure your connected devices are turned on. Press the INPUT button on the remote and select the input to which your device is connected (e.g., HDMI, Composite).
- The colors on the TV don't look right.
- Adjust the Color and Tint settings in the Picture menu. Reset the picture settings. Check all cables to ensure they are securely attached.
