VIZIO E551d-A0 Quick Start Guide

Model: E551d-A0

Important Safety Instructions

Your VIZIO TV is designed and manufactured to operate within defined design limits. Misuse may result in electric shock or fire. To prevent damage, observe the following instructions for installation, use, and maintenance. Read and keep these instructions in a safe place.

  • To reduce the risk of electric shock or component damage, switch off the power before connecting other components.
  • Read and heed all instructions.
  • Do not use this apparatus near water.
  • Clean only with a dry cloth.
  • Do not block ventilation openings; install per manufacturer's instructions.
  • Do not install near heat sources (radiators, stoves, amplifiers).
  • Do not defeat the safety purpose of polarized or grounding plugs. Consult an electrician if the plug does not fit your outlet.
  • Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched.
  • Use only manufacturer-specified attachments/accessories.
  • Use only with the specified cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table. Use caution when moving combinations to avoid tip-over.
  • Unplug during lightning storms or when unused for long periods.
  • Refer all servicing to qualified personnel. Servicing is required for damage (cord, plug, liquid spills, objects fallen into apparatus, exposure to rain/moisture, abnormal operation, or drops).
  • Unplug the power cord before cleaning.
  • When moving from cold to warm environments, allow the TV to acclimate to prevent condensation damage.
  • Maintain at least three feet distance from heat sources. Do not install near smoke; this may cause fire or electric shock.
  • Ensure ventilation openings are not blocked to prevent overheating. Do not place in a bookcase or cabinet unless proper ventilation is provided.
  • Never push objects into slots or openings, or place objects on top of the TV, as this could cause short circuits, fire, or electric shock. Never spill liquids on the TV.
  • Operate only from the indicated power source type. Consult your dealer or power company if unsure.
  • Do not apply pressure or throw objects at the TV; this may compromise the display. Manufacturer's warranty does not cover user abuse or improper installations.
  • Replace the power cord if using a different voltage than specified.
  • The TV is equipped with a three-pronged grounded plug. Use only grounded outlets. Have an electrician install the correct outlet or use an adapter if needed. Do not defeat the grounding plug's safety purpose.
  • Power is always flowing when connected to an outlet. Unplug the power cord for total disconnection.
  • The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol ⚡ indicates the presence of un-isolated, dangerous voltage that may pose a risk of electric shock.
  • The exclamation point symbol ❗ indicates important operating and maintenance instructions.
  • Do not overload power strips and extension cords; this can result in fire or electric shock.
  • The wall socket should be near and easily accessible.
  • Only use the marked voltage. Other voltages may cause fire or electric shock.
  • Do not touch the power cord during lightning storms to avoid electric shock.
  • Unplug during lightning storms or long periods of non-use to protect from power surges.
  • Do not attempt self-repair. Opening the back cover exposes you to high voltages and hazards. Contact your dealer for servicing.
  • WARNING: Keep TV away from moisture. Do not expose to rain or moisture. If water penetrates, unplug and contact your dealer to prevent fire or electric shock.
  • Do not use if any abnormality occurs. If smoke or odor is apparent, unplug and contact your dealer immediately. Do not attempt self-repair.
  • Avoid using dropped or damaged appliances. If the housing is damaged, internal components may function abnormally. Unplug immediately and contact your dealer for repair.
  • Do not install in areas with heavy dust or high humidity, as this may cause fire or electric shock.
  • Follow moving instructions: unplug all cords before moving.
  • When unplugging, hold the AC/DC power adapter, not the cord. Pulling the cord can damage wires and cause fire or electric shock. Unplug the power cord for extended periods of non-use.
  • To reduce risk of electric shock, do not touch connectors with wet hands.
  • Insert batteries according to instructions. Incorrect polarity can cause leaks, damage, or injury. Do not expose batteries to excessive heat.
  • Contact your dealer if: the power cord fails/frays, liquid sprays/objects drop into the TV, the TV is exposed to rain/moisture, the TV is dropped/damaged, or performance changes substantially.
  • This apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing, and no liquid-filled objects shall be placed on it.
  • The mains plug or appliance coupler is the disconnect device and shall remain readily operable.
  • CAUTION: Servicing instructions are for qualified personnel only. Do not perform servicing beyond operating instructions unless qualified.

3D Content Viewing Precautions

You may experience discomfort while watching 3D content, including eye strain, vision fatigue, color/depth distortion, motion sickness, nausea, dizziness, or disorientation. If these symptoms occur, stop watching and take a break for at least thirty minutes. If symptoms are severe or persist after stopping, consult a doctor.

Monitor children's 3D content viewing. Children and teenagers may be more at risk of discomfort and less likely to report symptoms. Watch for signs of discomfort.

Some viewers may be susceptible to epileptic seizures or strokes when viewing 3D images, even without prior diagnosis. If you or your family has a history of seizures or strokes, or if you suspect susceptibility, consult a doctor before watching 3D content.

Even if you do not experience symptoms, take regular breaks from watching 3D content.
