The lifespan of the battery depends on: Features used, Number of charge and discharge cycles, Use temperature.

CAUTION: RISK OF EXPLOSION IF BATTERY IS REPLACED BY AN INCORRECT TYPE. DISPOSE OF USED BATTERIES ACCORDING TO THE INSTRUCTIONS.

SAM1/SAM2/SIM1/SIM2 Readers compartment: The trapdoor for the battery, SAM1/SAM2/SIM1/SIM2 readers, located underneath the terminal, must be in place during normal operation. Refer to sections "Installing modules" and "Installing the battery".

On airplanes: Your terminal must be switched off by removing the battery pack. Remove the battery from the terminal when on an airplane. Non-compliance with these safety rules may result in legal action and/or a ban on later access to cellular network services.

Explosion areas: Some regulations restrict the use of radio equipment in chemical plants, fuel depots, and any site where blasting is carried out. You are urged to comply with these regulations. The terminal shall be protected by a specially fitted and certified cover enabling use in proximity to a fuel pump.

Thunderstorm weather

According to some reports, mobile phone electromagnetic waves can conduct lightning. It is easier to suffer lightning strikes in damp atmospheres with magnetic conductivity, especially in open areas. Do not use wireless terminals under thunderstorm weather.

Electronic health appliances

Your terminal is a radio transmitter that may interfere with health appliances, such as hearing aids, pacemakers, and hospital equipment. Consult your doctor or the equipment manufacturer for appropriate advice.

5.2 Security of your terminal

Your device fulfills current applicable PCI PTS security requirements. Upon receipt, check for signs of tampering. These checks should be performed regularly. For example, ensure the keypad is firmly in place and there are no unusual wires connected to any ports. Such checks can warn of unauthorized modifications or suspicious behavior. Your terminal detects any "tampered state" by repeatedly flashing "Warning Detected," rendering further use impossible. If you see this message, contact the terminal helpdesk immediately.

Ensure that privileged access is granted only to verified, trustworthy staff. The terminal must never be left unattended where it could be stolen or replaced.

5.3 Fixed installation

If the device is used where cardholders cannot shield their PIN entry themselves, it must be installed as follows:

  • The device must be angled at 45 degrees or more to prevent oversight of PIN entry from the rear.
  • The device must be fitted in a swivel stand allowing the customer to adjust the angle to prevent oversight, or fixed in a position that prevents oversight within the specific environment.
  • The device environment must include conspicuous notices and educational material informing the customer to shield their PIN during entry.
  • The device must be deployed to prevent oversight from other customers in different payment lanes or shopping areas. This can be achieved by positioning the lanes and device so the customer is automatically between the keypad and other customers, or by the environment shielding the PIN entry process.

The terminal is exclusively made for indoor use.

? ADVICE:

  • Position the terminal on the check stand to make cardholder PIN spying infeasible.
  • Install the device on an adjustable stand so consumers can swivel or tilt it to make visual observation of PIN entry difficult.
  • Position in-store security cameras so the PIN-entry keypad is not visible.
  • NEVER ask the customer to divulge their PIN Code. Advise customers to ensure they are not being overlooked when entering their PIN Code.

5.4 Cleaning the terminal

Good rules for proper cleaning:

  • Unplug all wires from the terminal prior to cleaning.
  • Apply soapy water or other approved cleaning product to a soft, non-abrasive cloth.
  • CLEANING PRODUCT SHOULD BE APPLIED TO THE CLEANING CLOTH AND NOT DIRECTLY APPLIED OR SPRAYED TO THE TERMINAL. Failure to follow this may damage the terminal.
  • Do not clean the electrical connections.
  • Do not use solvents, detergents, or abrasive products, as they might damage the plastic or electrical contacts.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure of the terminal to direct sunlight.
  • Do not insert anything other than credit cards into the smart card reader slot.

5.5 Transport and storage

When transporting the terminal:

  • Protect the terminal from snow, rain, and excessive exposure to the sun.
  • Transport with care to avoid mechanical impact.
  • Do not throw the unit forcibly. Prevent package intrusion during transportation to avoid breakage. Store the product in its original packaging.
  • Do not store in warehouses containing harmful gases, or inflammable, explosive, or corrosive chemicals.
  • Do not expose to strong mechanical vibrations or strong magnetic fields.
