The Moulinex OPTISS BN50xx is an electronic kitchen scale with a digital display. Key features include a Tare function, unit selection, and automatic shut-off.
Getting Started
Powering On and Off
To turn the scale on, press the power button [▶️]. The display will show "0.0". To turn it off, press and hold the power button for 3 seconds [▶️ 3s]. The scale will also automatically turn off after 3 minutes of inactivity [? Auto-stop 3 min].
Weighing and Tare Function
Weighing
Place the item to be weighed directly on the scale platform. The weight will be displayed.
Tare Function
The Tare function allows you to zero out the weight of a container or previous ingredients. Place your container on the scale. Press the Tare button [⚖️ Tare]. The display will reset to "0.0". Add your ingredients to the container. The display will show the weight of the ingredients only. You can repeat this process multiple times. To cancel the Tare function and see the total weight, press the Tare button again [⚖️ Tare].
Unit Selection
Changing Units
The scale supports various units, including grams (g), ounces (oz), pounds (lb), milliliters (ml), and fluid ounces (fl'oz). Press the Unit button [℮ Unit] to cycle through the available units until your desired unit is displayed.

Capacity and Accuracy
Maximum capacity: 5 kg (or 2000g).
Minimum weight for accurate measurement: 2g.
The display will show "Err" if the maximum capacity is exceeded.
Battery Information
Battery Installation
The scale requires 2 x LR03 AAA alkaline batteries. Open the battery compartment on the underside of the scale. Insert the batteries according to the polarity markings [➕ / ➖]. Close the compartment. The display may show a low battery indicator when replacement is needed.
Troubleshooting and Error Indicators
Error Indicators
Err: Indicates the maximum weight capacity has been exceeded. Remove some weight.
Lo: Indicates low battery power. Replace the batteries.
