Installation Clearances
This section details the recommended spacing for installing the washer in a recessed area or closet.
Diagram Description: The diagram illustrates a washing machine installed in a confined space, such as a closet or alcove. It shows the following recommended clearances:
- Unit Depth Clearance: 14 inches (356 mm) maximum depth for the washer.
- Side Clearances: 5 inches (126 mm) clearance from the sides of the washer to the enclosure walls.
- Rear Clearance: 3 inches (76 mm) clearance from the rear of the washer to the wall.
- Ventilation Requirements: For closet installations, ventilation openings are required. The diagram indicates a minimum of 48 square inches (310 cm²) of total ventilation area, typically split into top and bottom openings (e.g., 24 sq in at the top and 24 sq in at the bottom).
- Door Clearance: 1 inch (25 mm) clearance from the front of the washer to the closet door.
Important Notes on Spacing:
- All dimensions shown represent recommended spacing, except for closet door ventilation openings, which are minimum requirements.
- This washer has been tested for installation with 0 inches (0 mm) clearance on the sides. However, it is advisable to allow more space for easier installation and servicing.
- Consider additional spacing for companion appliances, walls, doors, and floor moldings.
- An additional 1 inch (25 mm) spacing on all sides of the washer is recommended to reduce noise transfer.
- If a closet door or louvered door is installed, ensure there are air openings at the top and bottom of the door.
