Recessed Area or Closet Installation
When installing the washer in a recessed area or closet, ensure adequate clearance for proper ventilation and operation. The diagram below illustrates recommended clearances.
[Diagram showing a washer installed in a recessed area or closet, with dimensions for clearance: 3" (76 mm) on sides and top, 20" (508 mm) front clearance, 5" (126 mm) clearance for water inlet valves, 1" (25 mm) clearance for power cord, and ventilation openings of 48 in² (310 cm²) and 24 in² (155 cm²) on the closet door.]
NOTE: All washers should have 20" (508 mm) clearance. The dimensions shown represent recommended clearances, except for closet door ventilation openings which are minimum required. This washer has been tested for installation with 0" (0 mm) clearance on the sides. Consider allowing more space for ease of installation and servicing, as well as for companion appliances and clearances for walls, doors, and floor moldings. Add an additional 1" (25 mm) space on all sides of the washer to reduce noise transfer. If a closet door or louvered door is installed, air openings at the top and bottom of the door are required.
