  5. Note: When installing 3.5-inch hard drives, remember to move the fastening pin back to the rear end.

Installing M.2 SSDs (Optional)

M.2 SSDs can be used as normal storage drives or as read/write cache to improve random data read/write performance.

  1. Power off the NAS device and turn it over. Loosen screws and remove the bottom panel.
  2. Unscrew the M.2 fixing screws.
  3. Insert the M.2 SSD into the slot in the indicated direction, then tighten the screws.
  4. Peel off the protective film from the silicone pad and stick it onto the front-facing surface of the SSD, then peel off the film on the other side.
  5. Reinstall the panel and power on the NAS. After successful boot-up, use the 'UGREEN NAS' app to set up the SSD cache.

Warning: To avoid data loss, please remove the SSD cache in the 'UGREEN NAS' app before removing any M.2 SSD. This provides protection if the system is using it for caching.

Installing Memory Modules

  1. Power off the NAS device and turn it over. Loosen screws and remove the bottom panel.
  2. Align the notch on the module's pins with the corresponding ridge in the slot. Insert the module into the slot and gently push it down to ensure it is properly seated.
  3. Reinstall the panel and tighten the screws.

Installing PCIe Expansion Card

  1. Power off the NAS and disconnect it from the power supply. Remove all hard drive trays.
  2. Turn the NAS over, remove screws and the bottom panel, then unscrew the fixing screws at the corners of the bottom and remove the feet.
  3. Turn the device to its back, remove screws securing the back ventilation cover.
  4. Remove internal fixing screws securing the outer shell to the internal frame, then lift the shell off the device.
  5. Remove the screw on the existing bracket. Remove the bracket and keep it for future use.
  6. Insert the PCIe card into the slot, ensuring it is securely connected, then tighten the screws.
  7. Reattach the outer shell, tighten internal fixing screws, attach the bottom panel and its corner screws, and finally reattach the back cover.
