Connecting Your Mobile Phone to Mercedes-Benz Hands-Free System via Bluetooth

This document provides instructions on how to connect your mobile phone via Bluetooth® using the pairing feature of the Mercedes-Benz hands-free system.

For a successful connection between your mobile phone and your Mercedes-Benz hands-free system, Bluetooth® must be turned on in your mobile phone. Please also refer to the operating and pairing instructions provided with your mobile phone. Follow the steps below to connect your Apple iPhone SE A1723 with the Mercedes-Benz hands-free system using Bluetooth®.

Step 1: Prepare Your Apple iPhone SE A1723

  1. Press the "Home" button.
  2. Navigate to and select "Settings".
  3. Select the "Bluetooth" option.
  4. Turn on Bluetooth.
  5. Your device will display "Now discoverable as 'iPhone'".

Step 2: Access the Telephone Screen

To access the telephone screen of your Mercedes-Benz hands-free system, press the "TEL" key on the center console or select "Tel". The screen will display options such as "Navi", "Audio", "Tel", "Video", "System", and indicate "Ready for Bluetooth telephony...". It also lists "Name", "Connect device", "SMS", and "Call lists".

Step 3: Initiate Device Connection

Select the application "Connect Device", typically located in the lower left corner of the screen.

Step 4: Search for Phones

Select the option "Search for phones". The screen will show "Search via telephone" and a field for "Telephones:".

Step 5: Start the Search

Select "Start search". A prompt will appear advising to ensure your phone is switched on, Bluetooth is activated, and your device is visible via Bluetooth. For further instructions, refer to your mobile phone's operating instructions or visit www.mercedes-benz.com/connect.

Step 6: System Searching

The system will now search for any Bluetooth® compatible phones. This process may take some time depending on the number of devices found by the system. The screen will display "Searching for Bluetooth phones...".

Step 7: Select Your Phone

Once the system completes searching, select your mobile phone from the list (e.g., "My Phone"). The screen might indicate "My phone was not found." if it is not detected.

Step 8: Verify Passcode

The pairing process will generate a 6-digit passcode and display it on the screen. Verify that the same 6 digits are shown on the display of your Apple iPhone SE A1723. The system will prompt: "Does the passkey [number] match the passkey on My Phone?" with "Yes" and "No" options.

Step 9: Confirm Pairing on iPhone

A pop-up will appear on your Apple iPhone SE A1723: "Bluetooth Pairing request: 'MB Bluetooth' would like to pair with your iPhone. Confirm that the code '### ###' is shown on 'MB Bluetooth'." If the codes match, select "Pair" on your Apple iPhone SE A1723. The Mercedes-Benz system may show "Waiting for passkey [number] to be confirmed on My Phone...".

Step 10: Authorization

After the passcode is verified on both the mobile phone and the Mercedes-Benz hands-free system, the phone will begin to be authorized. The Mercedes-Benz system screen will display "Connecting Bluetooth profiles...".

Step 11: Connection Confirmation

If the authorization was successful, the Bluetooth screen on your iPhone will now show "MB Bluetooth" and "Connected".

Step 12: Final Connection Status

After your mobile phone is successfully connected via Bluetooth® to your Mercedes-Benz hands-free system, the name of your mobile phone (example "My Phone") will be displayed in the lower left corner of the Mercedes-Benz hands-free system screen. The screen will show "My Phone" listed under "Telephones:" and indicate a connection.
