Connecting Your Huawei Mate20 via Bluetooth to Mercedes-Benz Hands-Free System

This document provides instructions on how to connect your mobile phone via Bluetooth® using the pairing feature of the Mercedes-Benz hands-free system.

Prerequisites

For a successful connection between your mobile phone and your Mercedes-Benz hands-free system, Bluetooth® must be turned on in your mobile phone. Please also refer to the operating and pairing instructions of your mobile phone.

Step 1: Prepare Your Huawei Mate20

Perform the following steps on your Huawei Mate20:

  1. From the main screen, tap the "Applications" button and navigate to "Settings".
  2. Select "Settings".
  3. Choose the "Bluetooth" option.
  4. Turn on Bluetooth®.
  5. Ensure your Huawei Mate20 is visible to nearby devices. If not, select its name at the top of the screen or choose "Make phone visible".

Step 2: Access the Telephone Screen

To access the telephone screen of your Mercedes-Benz hands-free system, press the “TEL” key on the center console or select "Phone."

Step 3: Initiate Device Connection

Select the "Connect Device" application, typically located in the lower left corner of the screen.

Visual Description: The screen displays the Mercedes-Benz interface with options for Navigation, Radio, Media, Telephone, and Vehicle. It shows "No Bluetooth phone authorized" and a numeric keypad. An "Options" button and "Connect device" are visible.

Step 4: Connect New Device

Select "Connect new device" from the available options.

Visual Description: The "Device manager" screen shows the option "Connect new device".

Step 5: Connect Via Vehicle

Select "Connect via vehicle."

Visual Description: The "Device manager" screen indicates "Ready for Bluetooth connection..." and provides a link to "www.mercedes-benz.com/connect" for further information.

Step 6: System Search

The system will now search for compatible Bluetooth® phones. This process may take time depending on the number of devices found.

Visual Description: The screen shows "Cancel search" and "Searching for BT phones...".

Step 7: Select Your Phone

Once the search is complete, select your mobile phone from the list (e.g., "My Phone").

Visual Description: The "Search results" screen displays "Phones found" with an option like "My Phone". It may also show "My phone was not found."

Step 8: Choose Connection Type

Select either "Connect as new main phone" or "Connect as Bluetooth audio device."

Visual Description: The "Device manager" screen states "Two devices can be connected at the same time." and presents options to "Connect as new main phone" and "Connect as Bluetooth audio device."

Step 9: Verify Passcode

The pairing process will generate a 6-digit passcode. Verify that this passcode matches the one displayed on your Huawei Mate20.

Visual Description: The "Device manager" screen shows "Waiting for passkey..." with a 6-digit number (e.g., 302355) to be confirmed on "My Phone".

Step 10: Confirm Pairing on Huawei Mate20

A "Bluetooth Pairing request" will appear on your Huawei Mate20, asking to confirm the passcode to pair with 'MB Bluetooth'. Select "Pair" or "OK" if the codes match.

Visual Description: Similar to Step 9, the "Device manager" screen shows the waiting status and the passcode.

Step 11: Authorization Process

After the passcode is verified on both devices, the phone will begin to be authorized.
