Connecting Your Huawei Mate20 via Bluetooth to Mercedes-Benz Hands-Free System
This document provides instructions on how to connect your mobile phone via Bluetooth® using the pairing feature of the Mercedes-Benz hands-free system.
Prerequisites
For a successful connection between your mobile phone and your Mercedes-Benz hands-free system, Bluetooth® must be turned on in your mobile phone. Please also refer to the operating and pairing instructions of your mobile phone.
Step 1: Prepare Your Huawei Mate20
Perform the following steps on your Huawei Mate20:
- From the main screen, tap the "Applications" button and navigate to "Settings".
- Select "Settings".
- Choose the "Bluetooth" option.
- Turn on Bluetooth®.
- Ensure your Huawei Mate20 is visible to nearby devices. If not, select its name at the top of the screen or choose "Make phone visible".
Step 2: Access the Telephone Screen
To access the telephone screen of your Mercedes-Benz hands-free system, press the “TEL” key on the center console or select "Phone."
Step 3: Initiate Device Connection
Select the "Connect Device" application, typically located in the lower left corner of the screen.

Step 4: Connect New Device
Select "Connect new device" from the available options.

Step 5: Connect Via Vehicle
Select "Connect via vehicle."

Step 6: System Search
The system will now search for compatible Bluetooth® phones. This process may take time depending on the number of devices found.

Step 7: Select Your Phone
Once the search is complete, select your mobile phone from the list (e.g., "My Phone").
Visual Description: The "Search results" screen displays "Phones found" with an option like "My Phone". It may also show "My phone was not found."
Step 8: Choose Connection Type
Select either "Connect as new main phone" or "Connect as Bluetooth audio device."
Visual Description: The "Device manager" screen states "Two devices can be connected at the same time." and presents options to "Connect as new main phone" and "Connect as Bluetooth audio device."
Step 9: Verify Passcode
The pairing process will generate a 6-digit passcode. Verify that this passcode matches the one displayed on your Huawei Mate20.

Step 10: Confirm Pairing on Huawei Mate20
A "Bluetooth Pairing request" will appear on your Huawei Mate20, asking to confirm the passcode to pair with 'MB Bluetooth'. Select "Pair" or "OK" if the codes match.

Step 11: Authorization Process
After the passcode is verified on both devices, the phone will begin to be authorized.

Step 12: Authorization Confirmation (Huawei Mate20)
If authorization is successful, the Bluetooth screen will display "MB Bluetooth" and "Connected." You may encounter pop-ups:
- For "Contacts/phonebook request: MB Bluetooth would like to access your contacts and call history," select "OK" to allow access.
- For "MAP/message access request: MB Bluetooth would like to access your messages," select "OK" to allow access.
Step 13: Connection Confirmation
Once your mobile phone is successfully connected via Bluetooth® to your Mercedes-Benz hands-free system, the name of your mobile phone (e.g., "My Phone") will be displayed in the lower left corner of the screen.
