Essential Oils and Pets

Exercise caution when using essential oils around pets. Keep oils and diffusers out of reach. Do not apply oils topically to pets. Diffuse in well-ventilated areas, allowing pets to leave the space if desired. Observe pet reactions; discontinue use if irritation occurs. Seek medical attention if ingested.

Adding Essential Oils

WARNING: Adding oil anywhere except the oil tray will damage the humidifier.

  1. The oil tray is located on the back of the humidifier.
  2. Push to open and remove the tray. Place 1 essential oil pad (3 included) into the tray.
  3. Add 5-7 drops of essential oil to the pad (adjust as preferred).
  4. Replace the tray and close. The scent will start automatically when mist is turned on.

About White Dust

White dust is caused by high mineral content in hard water, leading to mineral residue accumulation. This is not a defect but a result of minerals suspended in the water.

How and Why to Use Demineralization Cartridges

HoMedics Demineralization Cartridges help reduce white dust. Replace every 30-40 fillings, or more often with very hard water. Consider distilled water if white dust persists. Using distilled water is recommended for hard water areas or if using a water softener.

Installation Instructions

  1. Remove cartridge from packaging and soak in water for 10 minutes.
  2. Fill the tank with water as shown in the "How to Fill" section.
  3. Add the soaked demineralization cartridge to the tank.

For replacement pads and oils, visit www.homedics.com. For demineralization cartridges, visit www.homedics.com.

Cleaning and Care

CAUTION: Turn power off and unplug before cleaning.

Cleaning the Transducer/Ultrasonic Membrane

Clean the transducer/ultrasonic membrane to remove mineral deposits when the "clean" indicator illuminates. Failure to do so may reduce or stop mist output.

  1. Remove tank cover and lift the water tank from the humidifier base.
  2. Empty any remaining water from the tank.
  3. Empty any remaining water from the water reservoir.
  4. Clean the transducer/ultrasonic membrane with a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water on a cotton swab. Wipe with a damp cotton swab.
  5. NEVER touch the transducer/ultrasonic membrane with fingers. NEVER submerge the base in water or any liquid.
  6. Reassemble the humidifier, fill with water, plug in, and turn on.
  7. Press and hold the clean reset button for 3 seconds until the indicator turns off.

Cleaning the Float

Clean the float hinge with a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water to remove calcified minerals.

Cleaning the Tank

Daily: Empty and rinse the tank and cover before refilling. Weekly: Use a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and lukewarm water to clean the inside of the tank.

Cleaning the Oil Tray

Open the tray, remove the pad. Replace pad for new scents. Wipe tray interior with a soft cloth. Remove pad when storing.

Cleaning the Surface

Clean the unit surface with a soft, damp cloth. Before storing: Clean tank, reservoir, float, cover, and transducer/membrane with 50/50 vinegar/water, rinse, and dry all parts. Clean oil tray. After storing: Rinse tank before use.
