It is best to use distilled water in your Ultrasonic Humidifier. Using hard water with high mineral content may cause white mineral residue (white dust) to accumulate near the unit.
Never put essential oils directly into the water tank unless the manual explicitly states otherwise. Most Homedics humidifiers feature a dedicated oil tray or pad for aromatherapy to prevent damage to the ultrasonic membrane.
