1. Prepare the Door for Installation

✔️ Remove the existing lock and check if the door meets installation requirements. Drill holes if necessary.

Door Requirements:

  • Door Thickness: 1¾ in - 2¹¹/₆₄ in (35-55 mm)
  • Crossbore Diameter: 1½ in / 38 mm, 2¹/₈ in / 54 mm
  • Backset: 2³⁄8 in / 60 mm or 2³⁄4 in / 70 mm
  • Minimum Distance Between Handle and Crossbore Center: 3 in / 75 mm
  • Door Hole Diameter: 1 in / 25.4 mm
Diagram shows a door edge with measurements for Backset, Crossbore Diameter, Minimum Distance, and Door Hole Diameter, as well as Door Thickness.

Note: The Video Smart Lock Veno Pro is not compatible with storm doors as they may block the camera. Ensure your door is a standard entry door.

2. Install the Deadbolt

Determine if the deadbolt length needs to be adjusted.

Diagram shows a door edge and the deadbolt, indicating the backset measurement.
  • If the backset is 2³⁄8 in / 60 mm, insert the deadbolt directly.
  • If the backset is 2³⁄4 in / 70 mm, adjust the deadbolt length to 2³⁄4 in / 70 mm by rotating it 180°. Rotate the deadbolt surface to the end until it reaches the 2³⁄4 in / 70 mm position.

Ensure the "TOP" marking on the deadbolt is facing upwards.

Diagrams illustrate the deadbolt insertion for 60mm and 70mm backsets, including the 180° adjustment.

Insert the deadbolt into the edge bore on the side of the door. Ensure the "TOP" is facing upwards and the T-shaped slot for the tail plug is centered in the face bore.

Diagram shows the deadbolt (A) with "TOP" and "LOCKIN" markings, and Deadbolt Screw (B). It illustrates guide holes and the door status cable.

Before installing the deadbolt, insert the terminal of the door status sensor cable into the edge bore and pull it out from the inside of the door to straighten it. Be careful not to damage the cable and terminal.

Diagram shows the deadbolt being inserted into the door edge bore, with the door status cable routed.

Ensure the door status sensor cable passes through the gap below the deadbolt lock towards the inside of the door.

A split view shows "Inside Door" and "Outside Door," illustrating the cable routing.

3. Install Exterior Assembly

Measure the diameter of the cross bore.

  • If 2¹/₈ in / 54 mm, install the exterior assembly directly.
  • If 1½ in / 38 mm, remove the spacer, then install the exterior assembly.
Diagrams show the exterior assembly being attached to the door, with the crossbore diameter indicated and the spacer removal process illustrated. Arrows indicate movement.

Ensure the exterior assembly is vertical and securely fastened. If possible, have a helper assist you.

Diagrams show the exterior assembly being held in place, with close-ups detailing cable routing below the deadbolt lock and the "TOP" orientation.

4. Install the Mounting Plate

Detach the mounting plate and battery cover from the interior assembly.

Diagrams show the interior assembly and the mounting plate being separated.

Run the cables through the slot on the mounting plate.

Align the mounting plate with the threaded screw.

? IMPORTANT: Before inserting and tightening screws, follow these steps:

Illustration of Screws for Rear Mounting Plate (H).

Ensure that the correct screws are used.

  1. Pass the door status cable through the cable hole on the mounting plate.
  2. Pass the power cable and Wi-Fi cable over the door status cable through the cable hole on the mounting plate.
Diagram shows the mounting plate attached to the door, with cables (Door Status Cable, Power Cable, WiFi Cable) being routed through it.

Straighten the door status cable carefully to avoid damage.

Align and insert the screws, ensuring that the cable is positioned below them without being pinched.

Manually align the screws with the nuts through the deadbolt guide holes, then tighten them with a screwdriver.

Diagrams show screws being inserted and tightened, with cable routing noted.

? For easier installation, have a helper hold the exterior assembly to ensure a secure fit and prevent tilting.

Use a screwdriver to secure your screw.

Diagram shows the interior assembly with ports labeled 1, 2, 3. It illustrates the Door Status Cable, WiFi Cable, and Power Cable being plugged into the respective ports, with connection order indicated.

? IMPORTANT: Make sure the power cable is properly plugged in. To disconnect the WiFi cable, gently pull the tab.

Insert the tailpiece into the T-shaped slot on the interior assembly. Ensure that the cables are neatly stored within the cable hiding space on the interior assembly.

Diagram shows the tailpiece being inserted and cables being tucked away.

Make sure the deadbolt latch is retracted and adjust the thumbturn to a vertical position.

Diagram shows the thumbturn in a vertical position.

Arrange the cables to avoid pinching them when inserting the tailpiece into the interior assembly.

Attach the interior assembly closely to the door panel and tighten it with interior assembly screws.

Check whether the latch can extend and retract smoothly by rotating the thumbturn without getting stuck.

Diagram shows the thumbturn being rotated to test the latch.

6. Install The Strike Plate and The Strike Box

Ensure the depth of the latch hole on the door frame for installing the strike plate is at least 1 inch. Otherwise, the first calibration process after installation may fail, potentially leading to malfunction in subsequent usage.

Illustrations of Strike Box (C), Reinforced Strike Plate (E), Strike Plate (D), Strike Plate Screw (B), and Reinforced Strike Plate Screw (G) are shown. A diagram illustrates the door frame and latch hole.

Install the strike plate and strike box.
