RECOMMENDED NUMBER OF HINGES PER DOOR SIZE
Use this diagram to determine how many hinges you will need for your door. If you are hanging a door with a mirror or a door that is wide, you will need additional hinges.
A chart illustrates hinge recommendations based on door height and weight:
- 2 hinges for doors up to 3 ft (≤ 17 lbs / ≤ 7.7 kg)
- 3 hinges for doors up to 5.2 ft (≤ 30 lbs / ≤ 13.7 kg)
- 4 hinges for doors up to 6.5 ft (≤ 39 lbs / ≤ 17.7 kg)
- 5 hinges for doors up to 7.8 ft (≤ 48.5 lbs / ≤ 22 kg)
Installation
Step 1: Pre-drilling the installation holes
Use a pencil and tape measure to measure and mark the installation locations as shown in the diagrams. Then use a 1/16 in. drill bit to drill the cabinet holes and a 1-3/8 in. (35 mm) boring bit to drill the door hole. Ensure the door hole is no deeper than 15/35 in. (12 mm). Do not drill through either the door face or the cabinet.
Diagrams show the drilling process. One shows a drill bit creating a 1-3/8 inch (35 mm) hole in a door edge. Another diagram illustrates measurements for drilling into the door edge (1-3/8 inch diameter) and the cabinet edge (1-1/4 inch and 3/16 inch hole positions relative to the edge).
Step 2: Installing the hinges to the door
Insert each hinge (A) into the pre-drilled holes in the door and secure using two screws (C) for each hinge (A).
A diagram shows hinge (A) being inserted into the pre-drilled holes on the door edge, with screws (C) being used to secure it.
Step 3: Installing the mounting plates to the cabinet
Align the mounting plates (B) to the pre-drilled holes and fasten with two screws (C) for each mounting plate (B).
A diagram shows mounting plates (B) being attached to the cabinet with screws (C), indicating measurements of 1-1/4 inch (32 mm) and 1-7/16 inch (37 mm) from the cabinet edge.
Step 4: Installing the door to the cabinet
Open the hinges (A) to the fully-extended position. Slide each hinge arm (A) to the mounting plates (B) and tighten the screw (1) on each plate (B) to secure in place.
A diagram illustrates the hinge arm (A) being slid onto the mounting plate (B) and secured with screw (1).
Step 5: Adjusting the door
Height Adjustment: Loosen the top mounting screw (1) to adjust the door up or down. A diagram shows adjustment screw (1) and an arrow indicating vertical movement.
Overlay Adjustment: Turn the adjustment screw (2) to adjust the door overlay. A diagram shows adjustment screw (2) and an arrow indicating horizontal movement.
Depth Adjustment: Turn the eccentric screw (3) to adjust the distance of the doors from the cabinet. A diagram shows eccentric screw (3) and an arrow indicating in/out movement.
