Important Safety Instructions

Controls
The Sangean RA-101 is a portable speaker featuring a durable design with a built-in hand strap for portability. It includes a speaker grille on the front and controls on the top panel.
- 1. Volume Knob: Adjusts the audio volume. Can also be used to adjust backlight brightness.
- 2. Mode Knob: Selects the operating mode: Power Off, FM, Bluetooth, TWS, or Aux In.
- 3. LED Indicator:
- Amber: Tuner set solid on an FM station.
- Flashing Blue: Device is in Bluetooth or TWS pairing mode.
- Solid Blue: Device is connected/paired to a Bluetooth device or another TWS compatible speaker.
- 4. Tuning Control: Used to tune FM radio stations.
- 5. Indicating Backlight:
- Low Battery: The backlight flashes and then turns off.
- Charging (in off mode): The light displays a "breathing" effect until fully charged.
Note: It is not recommended to listen to the radio while charging to avoid interference.
- 6. Hand Strap: For carrying the speaker.
- 7. Speaker: The primary audio output.
- 8. DC IN 5V / 2.4A USB Type-C Charging Socket: For charging the internal battery.
- 9. 3.5mm Auxiliary Input Socket: For connecting external audio sources via a 3.5mm cable.
- 10. 3.5mm External Antenna Socket: For connecting an external FM antenna.
- 11. Passive Speaker: Refers to the main speaker unit.
Listening to Music via Bluetooth Streaming
Pairing and Playing Your Bluetooth Device for the First Time
- Rotate the Mode knob to select the BT (Bluetooth) mode. The LED indicator will flash blue to show the radio is discoverable.
- Activate Bluetooth on your device according to its user manual. Locate the Bluetooth device list and select the device named "RA-101". You may need to input the pass code "0000" for older Bluetooth versions (BT2.1 and earlier).
- Once connected, a confirmation tone will sound, and the blue LED indicator will remain steady. You can now select and play music from your source device. Volume can be adjusted from your source device or the radio.
- Use the controls on your Bluetooth-enabled device to play/pause and navigate tracks.
Disconnecting Your Bluetooth Device
Rotate the Mode knob to select any mode other than Bluetooth mode, or turn off the Bluetooth function on your Bluetooth device.
The True Wireless Stereo (TWS) Feature
True Wireless Stereo (TWS) allows one RA-101 speaker to wirelessly connect to a second RA-101 speaker, enabling synchronized music playback through both units simultaneously.
Connecting Two RA-101 Speakers (TWS)
Note: When establishing a TWS connection for the first time, neither speaker should be pre-connected to a Bluetooth device.
- On the first speaker, rotate the Mode knob to BT (Bluetooth) mode. The LED indicator will flash blue.
- On the second speaker, rotate the Mode knob to TWS mode. The LED indicator will also flash blue.
- After a short period, a confirmation tone will sound when TWS connects successfully. The blue LED indicator on the second speaker will remain steady.
- Connect the first speaker to your Bluetooth device. A confirmation tone will sound, and its blue LED indicator will remain steady.
- Start playback on the connected Bluetooth device. Adjust the volume on either the Bluetooth device or one of the speakers for comfortable listening. The volume setting on one speaker is reflected on the other.
Note: Not all player applications or devices may respond to all controls.
Switching Audio Mode
When using two speakers, repeatedly press and release the Volume knob to switch between audio modes:
- Full Circle Backlight: Both speakers play the same sound (default setting).
- Half Circle Backlight (flashing 3 times): Stereo playback; one speaker plays the left channel, and the other plays the right channel.
Disconnecting TWS Connection
Rotate the Mode knob to select any mode other than the current mode to disconnect the TWS connection.
Adjustable Backlight Dimmer
Press and hold the Volume knob for 2 seconds, then rotate the Volume knob to adjust the backlight brightness. Press and release the Volume knob to confirm the adjustment.
