Powering Your Radio
AC Operation
Before plugging the AC cord into the radio, ensure the AC voltage is correct. Insert the plug of the supplied power cord into the AC power socket on the back of the radio.
DC Operation
For outdoor use, the radio can be powered by a 12V DC input socket from a DC power supply (not included), such as from vehicles or boats. An AC power adapter with 1 Ampere and center positive polarity can also power the radio.
Operating Your Radio (FM / AM)
- The radio has a built-in AM/FM antenna. For better AM reception, rotate the radio. For better FM reception, insert the supplied FM wire antenna into the F-type antenna terminal and adjust for best reception. A 75-ohm coaxial cable to an outdoor antenna can also be connected. Ensure the external/internal antenna switch is set to 'external' when using the supplied wire antenna or an outdoor antenna. An antenna terminal adapter (EU Version Only) may be needed for outdoor antennas in some European countries.
- Turn on the radio by rotating the Power knob to the FM/AM position.
- Rotate the Tuning Control knob to select the desired station. The Tuning LED indicator will be brightest when optimal tuning is achieved.
- Adjust the Volume Control knob for comfortable listening.
- To switch off the radio, turn the Power knob to the OFF position.
Listening to Bluetooth Music
You need to pair your Bluetooth device with your radio before you can auto-link to play or stream music. Pairing creates a 'bond' allowing devices to recognize each other.
Pairing Your Bluetooth Device for the First Time
- Rotate the Band selecting knob to select the Bluetooth function. The Bluetooth icon on the panel will flash blue.
- Activate Bluetooth on your device according to its user manual to link to the WR-11BT+. Some older Bluetooth versions (prior to BT2.1) may require the pass code "0000".
- Once connected, a beep will sound, and the Bluetooth icon will remain illuminated blue. You can now play music from your Bluetooth-enabled device.
Notes on Bluetooth Connectivity:
- If multiple devices search for the WR-11BT+, it may appear on all. However, only one device can connect at a time.
- If your source device goes out of range, the connection will be temporarily lost. The radio will attempt to reconnect automatically if the device returns within 3 minutes. Otherwise, manual reconnection is required. During disconnection, no other Bluetooth device can pair.
- If 'SANGEAN WR-11BT+' appears in your device list but fails to connect, remove it from the list and re-pair.
- The effective operation range is approximately 10 meters (30 feet). Obstacles can reduce this range.
- Bluetooth/NFC performance may vary by device. Check your device's Bluetooth capabilities. Not all features may be supported on all paired devices.
- On some mobile phones, calls, texts, or other non-audio activities may mute or temporarily disconnect Bluetooth audio streaming. This is a device function, not a radio fault.
Playing a Previously-Paired Bluetooth Source Device
The WR-11BT+ can memorize up to 2 paired devices. If more are paired, the oldest entry is overwritten. The radio will attempt to reconnect to the last connected device. If unavailable, it tries the second-to-last.
Disconnecting Your Bluetooth Device
Rotate the Band selecting knob to any other band or the OFF position, or disconnect the Bluetooth-enabled device. The Bluetooth icon LED will flash, indicating deactivation.
Pairing and Playing Your Device via NFC
The WR-11BT+ features NFC for easy pairing and music playback with NFC-enabled devices. For non-NFC devices, use standard Bluetooth pairing.
- Rotate the Band selecting knob to the Bluetooth setting. The Bluetooth icon will flash blue.
- Turn on the NFC feature on your device.
- Touch your device's NFC area against the radio's NFC detection area. The WR-11BT+ will automatically pair. For first-time pairing, your NFC device may ask for permission. A beep and a solid blue Bluetooth icon indicate a successful connection.
- Use your device's controls to play, pause, and navigate tracks.
Notes on NFC Pairing:
- To link another Bluetooth device via NFC, disconnect the current one first.
- NFC detection area locations vary by device. Consult your device's user guide.
- Metallic phone cases may reduce NFC sensitivity; remove them before activating NFC.
Disconnecting Your NFC-Enabled Device
Touch your device's NFC area to the radio's NFC detection area again. The Bluetooth icon LED will flash blue, indicating deactivation.
Headphone Use
Use headphones with a 3.5mm connector. Insert the connector into the headphone socket on the back of the radio. The loudspeaker is automatically disconnected when headphones are plugged in.
AUX IN Socket
A 3.5mm Auxiliary Input socket on the back allows audio input from external devices like iPods, MP3 players, or CD players.
- Rotate the Band selecting knob to select "AUX".
- Connect an external audio source to the Auxiliary Input socket.
- Adjust the volume on your external device for an adequate signal level, then adjust the radio's Volume Control knob for comfortable listening.
REC Out Socket
This output can be used to connect the radio as a separate tuner to a stereo receiver or pre-amplifier. It can also be used to make mono recordings from audio programs.
Charging with USB Socket
The USB socket is intended for charging iPhones, smartphones, or similar devices. Charge times may vary and can be longer than with manufacturer-supplied chargers. For interference reasons, the WR-11BT+ can only charge when the radio is off.
Important USB Notes:
- The USB jack supports devices with a maximum input of 1A/5V. It does not support external hard drives or some mobile phones/electronic devices.
- The charger may not supply power to all USB devices.
- Do not connect a power source to the USB port; this risks fire. The port is for low-voltage devices only.
- Do not insert foreign objects (nails, wires, etc.) into the USB port, as this can cause short circuits, smoke, or fire.
- Do not connect this USB socket to your PC's USB port, as it may cause damage to both units.
- Never use the USB socket in rainy or moist conditions to prevent moisture from entering the radio.
