Casio STR-800 Watch (Module 2877)
This document provides instructions for operating the Casio STR-800 digital watch, module 2877.
Water Resistance
The watch offers various levels of water resistance suitable for different activities:
- 50M Water Resistant: Suitable for everyday use, light splashes, and rain. Not suitable for swimming or diving.
- 100M Water Resistant: Suitable for swimming and snorkeling. Not suitable for diving.
- 200M Water Resistant: Suitable for recreational scuba diving.
- 300M Water Resistant: Suitable for professional diving.
Note: Water resistance is maintained under normal use. Avoid exposing the watch to hot water, steam, or soapy water. Buttons should not be operated while submerged.
Timekeeping Mode
The default mode is Timekeeping. The display typically shows the current time, date, and day of the week.
- 12/24-Hour Format: The watch can display time in either 12-hour (with 'P' for PM, 'A' for AM) or 24-hour format.
- Setting the Time and Date:
- Press button 'B' to enter setting mode.
- Press button 'D' to cycle through the items to set (e.g., Hour, Minute, Second, Year, Month, Day).
- Press button 'A' to adjust the selected value.
- Press button 'B' again to exit setting mode.
- Year Range: The watch supports years from 1 to 2000, and 1 to 2039.
- Daylight Saving Time (DST): The 'DST' indicator can be turned ON or OFF to adjust for daylight saving time. This is typically adjusted in the time setting screen using button 'D' to select DST and button 'A' to toggle it.
Alarm Mode
The watch features multiple alarms and an hourly time signal.
- Entering Alarm Mode: Press button 'A' repeatedly to cycle through modes until the alarm indicator (e.g., 'AL') is displayed.
- Setting Alarm Time:
- In alarm mode, press button 'B' to enter alarm setting.
- Use button 'D' to select the hour and button 'A' to adjust.
- Press button 'D' again to select the minute and button 'A' to adjust.
- Press button 'B' to confirm the alarm time.
- Turning Alarm ON/OFF: In alarm mode, press button 'A' to cycle through alarm settings (e.g., Alarm ON, Alarm OFF, Hourly Chime ON, Hourly Chime OFF). An indicator (e.g., 'AL') will appear on the display when the alarm is active.
- Snooze Function (SNZ): If the alarm is set with a snooze function, pressing a specific button (often 'A' or 'B') will silence the alarm temporarily, and it will sound again after a few minutes.
Stopwatch Mode
The stopwatch measures elapsed time, lap times, and split times.
- Entering Stopwatch Mode: Press button 'A' repeatedly to cycle through modes until the stopwatch display is shown.
- Operation:
- Press button 'A' to start the stopwatch.
- Press button 'A' again to stop the stopwatch.
- Press button 'B' to record a lap time or split time while the stopwatch is running. Pressing 'B' again resumes the split time display.
- Press button 'D' to reset the stopwatch to zero.
- Capacity: The stopwatch can measure up to 99 hours, 59 minutes, 59.99 seconds. It can store up to 500 lap/split times.
- Display: The display shows hours, minutes, seconds, and hundredths of a second for elapsed time, and lap times.
- Error Indication: An "ERROR" message may appear if the stopwatch capacity is exceeded or if an invalid operation is attempted.
Countdown Timer Mode
The countdown timer can be set for a specific duration and counts down to zero.
- Entering Timer Mode: Press button 'A' repeatedly to cycle through modes until the timer display is shown.
- Setting the Timer:
- Press button 'B' to enter timer setting mode.
- Use button 'D' to select the hours and button 'A' to adjust.
- Press button 'D' again to select the minutes and button 'A' to adjust.
- Press button 'B' to confirm the timer setting.
- Timer Range: The timer can be set from 1 minute up to 24 hours.
- Operation: Press button 'A' to start the countdown. Press 'A' again to pause, and press 'A' again to resume. Press button 'D' to reset the timer to its preset value.
- Auto-Repeat: The timer may feature an auto-repeat function, where it automatically restarts the countdown after reaching zero. This is typically enabled or disabled in the timer setting mode.
Lighting (EL Backlight)
The watch features an electro-luminescent backlight for viewing the display in low light conditions.
- Activation: Press the 'EL' button (often located on the top or bottom edge of the watch) to activate the backlight.
- Duration: The backlight illuminates for a set duration, typically 2.5 seconds or 1.5 seconds, which may be adjustable in the settings.
Other Indicators and Functions
- "WAIT" Indicator: May indicate that the watch is processing a command or waiting for input.
- "OPEN" Indicator: Could signify an open circuit or a specific state requiring attention.
- GMT (Greenwich Mean Time): Some models may display GMT or allow setting a GMT offset for world time functions.
- AL1-AL5, SNZ: Indicators for different alarms and the snooze function.
