Other Functions
Backlight
The backlight uses an electro-luminescent panel (EL). Its brightness may decrease with continuous use. A faint sound may be heard during illumination due to vibrating elements, which is normal and not an indication of malfunction.
The backlight may be difficult to see in direct sunlight. Frequent use of the backlight reduces battery life.
Auto-Backlight
You can enable or disable the Auto-Backlight function by pressing and holding [Button D] for 2 seconds in Timekeeping Mode. The Auto-Backlight activates automatically when the watch is tilted at an angle of approximately 40 degrees relative to the ground. Do not use the Auto-Backlight function when the light could damage you or distract your attention, for example, while operating a motorcycle or bicycle.
Water Resistance
Classification
Watches are classified by water resistance levels (I to V) according to their degree of water protection. Refer to the table below for proper usage.
Level | Case Marking | Splash, Rain, etc. | Swimming, Car Washing, etc. | Diving, Snorkeling, etc. | Scuba Diving |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
I | No | No | No | No | |
II | WATER RESISTANT | Yes | No | No | No |
III | 50M WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | No | No |
IV | 100M WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
V | 200M WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
300M WATER RESISTANT | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Important Notes
Level I: The watch is not water resistant. Avoid all moisture.
Level II: Do not pull out the crown if the watch is wet. Do not press watch buttons underwater.
Level III: Do not press watch buttons underwater.
Level IV: If the watch is exposed to salt water, rinse it thoroughly and dry it.
Level V: The watch can be used for scuba diving (except for depths requiring a helium-helium mixture).
Some water-resistant watches have leather straps. Do not wear these watches while swimming or engaging in other activities where the strap may become submerged.
Never attempt to open the case or remove the back cover.
The gasket, which protects the watch from water and dust, should be replaced every 2-3 years by an authorized CASIO dealer or distributor.
If water enters the watch, have it checked immediately by a CASIO dealer or distributor.
Do not expose the watch to extreme temperatures.
Although the watch is designed for normal use, avoid rough handling and do not drop it.
Do not wear the watch too tightly. A finger should fit between the strap and your wrist.
To clean the watch and strap, use a dry soft cloth, or a soft cloth dampened with a mild neutral detergent solution. Never use volatile agents such as gasoline, solvents, spray cleaners, etc.
When not using the watch, store it in a dry place.
Avoid contact with gasoline, cleaning solvents, spray aerosols, adhesives, paint, etc. Chemical reactions caused by these materials can damage gaskets, the case, and the watch's finish.
Some watch straps feature silk-screened designs. Clean such straps carefully to avoid damaging these designs.
For Watches with Plastic Straps
A white powdery substance may appear on the strap; this is harmless and can be easily wiped off with a cloth. Sweat or moisture, or storage in high humidity, can lead to damage, tearing, or cracking of the plastic strap. To ensure a long service life for the plastic strap, wipe it with a soft cloth to remove dirt and moisture whenever possible.
For Watches with Fluorescent Cases and Straps
Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause the fluorescent color to gradually fade. Prolonged contact with moisture can also cause the fluorescent color to gradually fade. Wipe off any moisture from the watch surface as soon as possible. Prolonged contact with any other wet surface may lead to discoloration of the fluorescent color. Ensure the fluorescent surface is free of moisture and avoid contact with other surfaces. Strong friction of a surface with applied fluorescent paint against another surface may transfer the fluorescent paint to that surface.
