- FAE010: Flexible hose Ø50 (1.5m length). Connects to flexible arm or stand accessory.
The main screen allows selection of suction programs (high, medium, low) or custom settings.
Alternative Mounting Option: 2 Workbenches
To configure for two workbenches, set the Workbench option to "2" in the FAE1 main menu. This configuration uses two flexible arms (FAE070 or FAE020) and two FAE010 hoses.
Connection: FAE with NAE, DI, and Modular Control Units
JBC control modules can be connected via RJ12 cable for automatic activation of the fume extractor when a soldering tool is in use. Ensure control units have the latest firmware. The FAE can be configured as "FAE_a" in the "Peripherals" menu of the control unit.
Minimum required firmware versions for FAE compatibility:
- DDE, HDE, NAE: 8886160
- DME: 8886162
- DI: 8886602
Up to 4 control units can be connected to the fume extractor's station connectors (STATION 1, STATION 2, etc.).
Connection: FAE with Compact Stations
Connect JBC soldering stations using a USB connection cable and adapter, or an RJ12 cable. Both methods enable automatic activation.
Important: Connect the compact station to the fume extractor before powering on the extractor to ensure proper control.
Firmware Update
The FAE fume extractor firmware can be updated via the USB-B connector using a USB cable. Download firmware from www.jbctools.com/software.html. The RJ12 station connection cable must be disconnected during the update process.
Menu Interface
The main menu provides access to various settings:
- Unit: Continuous mode, Beep, PIN settings.
- Port: Program selection (preset or custom), delay to stop, pedal settings.
- Filter set: Displays carbon life and saturation, allows resetting the carbon filter counter.
- Counters: Shows total and partial usage hours (plugged, idle, work area, stand).
Filter Status Indicators:
- Green: Filter OK.
- Yellow: Carbon life ≤20% or filter nearing saturation.
- Red: Carbon life expired or filter saturated.

Maintenance - Filter Replacement
The fume extractor indicates when filters need replacement via the display and LED indicator.
- Remove the cover (1) by opening the quick-release levers (2).
- If the LED (3) remains red after replacing the pre-filter (4), the main filter (5) is saturated and also needs replacement.
- After replacing the main filter (5), reset the carbon filter counter via the menu: Filter Set > Reset Carbon.
The main filter's lifespan is a maximum of 1 year after opening its packaging.
Note: Ensure the filter ribs align with the housing slots.
Connect the filter hose to the quick-connect fitting on the fume extractor housing.
Adjusting the Quick-Release Lever
To ensure filter seal, the locking force between the housing and cover can be adjusted by rotating the knurled nut on the locking lever. Clockwise rotation loosens, counter-clockwise tightens.
