Pedal Configuration
For DDE, HDE, NAE, JNA, JTSE, ALE (Controllers) and PHNK, PHSK, PHBK, PHXK (Preheaters)
Note: External modules MSE, MVE, or MNE are required to connect the pedal to DDE and HDE.
- Navigate to the Peripherals menu and select the port for the pedal connection.
- Select the pedal from the list. Remember that the first connection is labeled "a", the second "b", and so on (e.g., PD_a, PD_b).
- Configure the pedal function according to your needs:
- Pedal Operation Mode: Choose between Sleep (Standby), Extractor (Hibernation), or Module Switcher.
- Activation Mode: Select between Pressed (when the pedal is pressed) or Released (when the pedal is released).
Diagram Description: Screenshots show the JBC interface for configuring the pedal. Options include selecting the port, the pedal (PD_a), and setting the function (e.g., Extractor) and activation mode (e.g., released). A note explains that the activation time can be set for single presses, and holding the pedal activates the function continuously.
Note: The reverse setting is also possible, activating the function by continuously pressing and releasing the pedal.
For DME (Control Unit)
Note: External modules MSE, MVE, or MNE are required to connect the pedal to DME. A pop-up window appears after connecting one of these modules to the station.
- To configure the MSE/MVE/MNE module, press the "Setup" button in the pop-up window.
- Select the appropriate module from the peripheral connection list. Similar to the pedal configuration, connections are labeled "a", "b", etc. (e.g., MS_a, MS_b).
- Select the tool port to be associated with the peripheral device.
- Press the Menu or Back button to save changes. Module settings can be modified later via the Peripherals menu.
For FAE1, FAE2 (Fume Extractors)
- Go to the Main menu and select Port.
- In the port menu, select Pedal.
- Configure the pedal function:
- Activation Mode: Displays the activation mode. Choose between One-touch* or Continuous*.
- Mode: Select the pedal activation mode: Pressed or Released.
* One-touch activates the pedal function until a double press. Continuous activates the pedal function while it is pressed.
Example: Reworking Components with SMD Tweezer and Pedal
The foot pedal is frequently used for reworking components with tweezers.
The AN115 adjustable SMD tweezers are effective for desoldering components, and the P405 pedal facilitates quick positioning and soldering.
Diagram Description: An illustration shows the setup: a JBC Nano Control Unit connected to a P405 pedal and AN115 tweezers. The pedal and tweezers are connected to the same port on the control unit. The text indicates to connect the P405 pedal to the same port as the AN115 tweezers and to select "pressed" or "released" in the "Pedal Activation Mode" within the peripherals menu.
Step 2: Desoldering
Remove the tweezer from its holder. Press and hold the pedal to activate the tweezers and desolder the component.
Upon releasing the pedal, the tweezers enter hibernation mode and cool down.
Diagram Description: An illustration shows a hand holding tweezers, pressing a foot pedal, and a component being lifted from a PCB. The JBC station display shows "Hibernation" and "Actual Temp. 45°C".
* Previously selected "Press mode".
Step 3: Pad Cleaning
Clean the pads using the JBC DS360 desoldering tool. This requires a JBC CS desoldering station.
Diagram Description: An illustration shows the DS360 micro-desoldering tool being used to clean pads on a PCB.
Step 4: Solder Paste Application
Apply the necessary amount of solder paste for soldering the new component. It is recommended to use the JBC DPM solder paste dispenser.
Diagram Description: An illustration shows the DPM manual solder paste dispenser applying paste to PCB pads.
Step 5: Positioning
Do not press the pedal. Use the tweezers to position the component on the pre-tinned pad.
Note: An inactive tweezer prevents premature heating of the component.
Diagram Description: An illustration shows tweezers positioning a component on a PCB. The JBC station display shows "Hibernation" and "Actual Temp. 45°C".
Step 6: Soldering
After positioning, press and hold the pedal to activate the tweezers and perform the soldering.
Diagram Description: An illustration shows tweezers soldering a component on a PCB. The JBC station display shows temperature settings.
