Installation and Setup
Follow these steps to connect your soundbar system.
Components:
- A: Soundbar
- B: Remote Control Receiver
- C: Status LED (Indicates connection and status)
- D: Rear Speakers (Sold separately, SPT8-S)
- E: Wireless Subwoofer (Install close to the soundbar)
- F: External Device (e.g., Blu-ray player, game console)
Connection Diagram Description:
The system connects your TV to the soundbar. An external device can connect to the soundbar's HDMI IN. The soundbar connects to the TV via HDMI (ARC/eARC) or Optical. The wireless subwoofer and rear speakers connect wirelessly to the soundbar. Power connections are made in a specific order: Subwoofer, then Rear Speakers, then Soundbar.
Step-by-Step Connection:
- Connect Soundbar to TV: Use an optical cable or an HDMI cable (ARC/eARC recommended) to connect the soundbar to your TV's corresponding audio output.
- Connect External Devices: Connect external devices (set-top box, game console) via HDMI to the soundbar's HDMI IN port or directly to your TV's HDMI IN ports.
- Connect Rear Speakers (Optional): If using separately purchased rear speakers, connect them via speaker cables. Match the black striped cable to the negative terminal and the other cable to the positive terminal on each speaker.
- Connect Power: Connect power in the following order: Wireless Subwoofer, then Rear Speakers, then the Soundbar.
- Turn On: Turn on the soundbar. The wireless subwoofer and rear speakers should automatically connect. A green LED on these units indicates a successful wireless connection.
LED Status Indicators:
The Status LED (C) on the soundbar indicates different modes:
- Red blinking: Indicates the soundbar is not connected to the wireless subwoofer or rear speakers. To resolve, turn off the soundbar, press the PAIRING button on the subwoofer/rear speaker until it blinks green, then turn the soundbar back on.
- White blinking: Bluetooth pairing mode.
- Solid White: Bluetooth connected, or general TV connection (Optical/HDMI ARC), or USB connection.
- Golden yellow: External device connected via HDMI IN.
Note: LED behavior can vary. Refer to the product's specific indicators for precise status.
Connecting to Your TV:
- Press the Function button on the soundbar or remote until the appropriate LED lights up (e.g., White for general TV audio, Golden yellow for HDMI IN).
- On your TV's settings, select the audio output source as [HDMI ARC], [Optical], or [External Speaker].
Connecting to Your Smartphone via Bluetooth:
- On your smartphone, go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn it on.
- Press the Bluetooth pair button on the soundbar. The LED(s) will blink white.
- On your smartphone, search for Bluetooth devices and select "LG S70TY(XX)".
- Once connected, the LED(s) will light up solid white.
Connecting to the LG ThinQ App:
Install the LG ThinQ app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store on your smartphone. You can find more information regarding its use by selecting [Help] in [Setting] within the app.
Wireless Interference:
Keep the soundbar, subwoofer, and rear speakers at least 1 meter (3.3 ft) away from devices like wireless routers or microwave ovens to prevent interference.
Audio Output: If some speakers do not play audio, select the BASS BLAST (BASS BLAST+) sound mode.

LG Electronics warrants this product against defects in material or workmanship under normal use for a period of one (1) year from the original date of purchase for both parts and labor. This warranty is valid only to the original retail purchaser and applies only when purchased and used within the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. Territories. Proof of Purchase is required. LG will, at its option, repair or replace the product. Shipping costs are paid by LG during the warranty period.
Warranty Exclusions: This limited warranty does not apply to service trips for installation, education, or unauthorized repairs. It also excludes damage or failure resulting from power failures, misuse, abuse, negligence, improper maintenance, acts of nature, unauthorized modifications, or use with non-approved accessories or components. Cosmetic damage, scratches, dents, chips, and damage resulting from institutional or commercial use are also excluded.
