Installation Steps
Step 1: Attach Mounting Strap
Using the strap mounting screws [E], attach the mounting strap [F] to the outlet box [G]. Ensure the flat side of the mounting strap is against the wall, with the screw holes positioned at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions.
Step 2: Mark Additional Mounting Locations
Use the mounting strap as a template. Mark the positions for additional wall mounting locations through the holes near the top and bottom of the strap.
Step 3: Remove Strap
Carefully remove the strap mounting screws and the mounting strap from the outlet box.
Step 4: Prepare Wall Mounting Locations
If an additional wall mounting location is on a stud, use a 3/32" drill bit (not included) to drill a pilot hole. If the location is not on a stud, use a 3/16" drill bit (not included) to drill a hole for a wall anchor [D]. Insert the wall anchor into the hole and tap lightly until flush with the mounting surface.
Step 5: Reattach Mounting Strap
Using the strap mounting screws [E], reattach the mounting strap [F] to the outlet box [G]. Tighten to secure.
Step 6: Secure Strap to Wall
Secure the mounting strap to the wall by screwing the two (2) wall anchor screws [C] into the additional wall mounting locations. Tighten to secure.
Step 7: Grounding Instructions
For USA installations:
Diagram Description (a): For fixtures with a mounting strap featuring a hole and two raised dimples, wrap the ground wire from the outlet box around the green ground screw and thread it into the hole.
Diagram Description (b): For fixtures with a cupped washer, attach the ground wire from the outlet box under the cupped washer and the green ground screw, then thread into the mounting strap.
If the fixture has a ground wire, connect the fixture's ground wire to the outlet box's ground wire using a wire connector after completing the above steps. Never connect the ground wire to the black or white power supply wires.
Step 8: Make Wire Connections
Reference the chart below for correct wire connections.
Connect Black or Red Supply Wire to: | Connect White Supply Wire to: |
---|---|
Black | White |
*Parallel cord (round & smooth) | *Parallel cord (square & ridged) |
Clear, Brown, Gold or Black without Tracer | Clear, Brown, Gold or Black with Tracer |
Insulated wire (other than green) with copper conductor | Insulated wire (other than green) with silver conductor |
Note: When using parallel wire (SPT 1 & SPT 2), the neutral wire is square-shaped or ridged, and the other wire will be round or smooth (see illustration). The neutral wire is typically white.
Step 9: Attach Canopy
Push the canopy [B] to the wall, carefully aligning the mounting screw holes in the top and bottom of the mounting strap with the corresponding holes in the canopy. NOTE: Ensure all wires are inside the canopy and are not pinched between the mounting strap and canopy, or between the wall and the canopy.
Step 10: Secure Fixture
Screw two (2) mounting screws [A] into the holes in the canopy and mounting strap to attach the fixture to the wall. One screw at the top and one at the bottom. Tighten to secure.
Step 11: Install Bulbs
Insert recommended bulb(s) (not included).
