How to Start Your Watch
To begin using your watch, remove the plastic guard from under the crown, set the correct time, and then press the crown back into the closed position. Synchronization with the Smartphone application is required to activate the activity tracking function. Press Button A; the upper sub-dial hand will move to the Bluetooth® symbol ?. Perform the synchronization process between the watch and the Smartphone application. Once synchronized, the activity tracking function will be ready for use.
Time Setting
The watch crown has four positions: a temporary push position for the INDIGLO® night-light, and three indexing positions: closed, middle, and outer. To familiarize yourself, extend the crown to its outer position, then gently push it until it clicks into the middle position. To set the time: Pull the crown to its outer position and turn it until the correct time is displayed. Return the crown to the closed position once the time is set.
INDIGLO® Night-Light
Press the crown to activate the INDIGLO® night-light. The light will remain on for 2-3 seconds after releasing the crown.
4th Center Hand Adjustment
To readjust a misaligned 4th center hand:
- Pull the crown out to the outer position. The upper and lower hands will move counter-clockwise to calibrate automatically. The 4th center hand will rotate up to one revolution and stop at 12 o'clock.
- If the 4th center hand is not at 12 o'clock, press Button A to move it clockwise until it points to 12 o'clock. Holding Button A will increase the hand's speed.
- Push the crown back into the closed position when finished.
Mode Selection
Press Button A to advance the upper sub-dial hand to the desired function. Note: Mode changes are only possible when the crown is in the closed position.
Steps / Distance Modes
You can switch between Steps and Distance modes by pressing Button A.
- Steps Mode ("S"): The lower sub-dial hand shows the percentage of your daily Steps goal achieved. The 4th center hand shows the actual number of steps taken today (in thousands), referenced against the scale on the outer edge of the dial.
- Distance Mode ("D"): The lower sub-dial hand shows the percentage of your daily Distance goal achieved. The 4th center hand shows the actual distance covered (in Miles or Kilometers, as set in the Smartphone application), based on your activity today, referenced against the scale on the outer edge of the dial.
Bluetooth® Mode
No pairing is required, but the watch must be prepared for the sync process. Push and hold Button A until the upper hand points to the Bluetooth® symbol ?. The watch is now ready for synchronization. During synchronization, the lower sub-dial hand and center hand will move to zero, but activity tracking remains active (unless it was previously turned off). After successful synchronization via the Smartphone application, both sub-dial hands will return to their previous positions.
OFF Mode
To suspend activity tracking and extend battery life, push and hold Button A until the upper hand points to "OFF". The watch memory retains activity data for the last 7 calendar days. It is advised to synchronize the watch and Smartphone application before turning off tracking to prevent data loss. To re-activate activity tracking, push and hold Button A until the upper hand points to "S" (Steps mode).
Synchronization of the Watch and Smartphone Application
The watch stores activity tracking data for the last 7 calendar days. Synchronize the watch with the Smartphone application at least every 7 days to avoid data loss. No tracking data is deleted during or after synchronization.
Note: The watch must be within 2 meters (approx. 6.5 feet) of your Smartphone for optimal communication.
To start synchronization: Prepare the watch by placing it in Bluetooth® mode. The lower sub-dial hand and center hand will move to zero. Start the Smartphone application and follow the on-screen instructions. The synchronization process must be initiated from the Smartphone within 10 seconds, otherwise the watch's Bluetooth® will switch off, requiring you to re-enter Bluetooth® mode.
After synchronization, the watch's Bluetooth® switches off. Both sub-dial hands will return to their positions prior to entering Bluetooth® mode. The Smartphone application will confirm the success or failure of the synchronization.
Low Battery Indicator
The watch features a low voltage detection system to alert users when the battery needs replacement. During synchronization, the Smartphone application will notify the user. The watch also indicates a low battery by the second hand's movement: it will tick once every 2 seconds. To conserve battery power, the INDIGLO® night-light will not function until the battery is replaced. Activity tracking will remain active until the battery is fully depleted, but new data will not be stored.
Battery Replacement
Before replacing the battery, synchronize the watch with the Smartphone to ensure all latest activity data is retrieved. After battery replacement, the watch will automatically calibrate the sub-dial hands. Upon completion, the upper sub-dial hand will point to "OFF" and the lower sub-dial hand will be at ZERO. Activity tracking will be off. You will need to adjust the center hand and synchronize the watch with the Smartphone application by pressing Button A to move the upper hand to the Bluetooth® symbol ?.
Storing the Watch
To store the watch, pull the crown out to the outer position. The hour, minute, and second hands will stop. The activity tracking function will become inactive after 30 minutes with the crown in this position.
Firmware Update
Firmware updates for the Smartphone application will be communicated through the app itself. During synchronization with an update, the lower sub-dial hand will indicate the download progress from 0% to 100%.
Stride Length Adjustment
The Timex Metropolitan+ uses an algorithm to measure distance based on stride length, which is automatically determined by height and speed. If the reported distance does not match your actual activity, you can calibrate the distance by +/- 25% via the Smartphone application's distance adjustment option.

- The watch is water-resistant only if the lens, push buttons, and case remain intact.
