6. Using Your Razer BlackWidow V4 X
Media Controls
The multi-function roller allows for volume adjustment:
- Rotate roller upwards for Volume Up ?⬆️.

Use the Razer Synapse app to further customize lighting effects and access other features.
On-the-Fly Macro Recording
Follow these steps to create an OTF macro recording:
- Press the key combination to start recording (typically FN + F9 ? + ?️).
- Type the keys you want to record.
- Press the key combination to stop the recording or the ESC key to cancel.
- Wait for the OTF macro record key to start blinking.
- Press the desired macro key (M1-M6) to bind your recording.

7. Configuring Your Razer BlackWidow V4 X
Synapse Tab
The Synapse tab is your default tab when you first launch Razer Synapse.
Dashboard
The Dashboard subtab provides an overview of your Razer Synapse, allowing access to all Razer devices, modules, and online services. It displays options such as registering your product, viewing compatible devices, accessing the Razer Store, Razer Support, and Razer Gold & Silver.
Modules
The Modules subtab displays all installed and available modules for installation, including:
- ALEXA: Full Alexa Voice Service integration.
- CHROMA CONNECT: Control center for Chroma-enabled apps and third-party hardware.
- CHROMA STUDIO: Create synchronized lighting effects across devices.
- CHROMA VISUALIZER: Syncs Chroma devices with media playback.
- HUE: Integrates with Philips Hue Bridge for immersive lighting.
- NANOLEAF: Configure and synchronize Nanoleaf light panels.
- MACRO: Create and execute powerful macros.
Global Shortcuts
Bind operations or Razer Synapse functions to custom key-combinations that work across all device profiles. Only Razer Synapse-enabled device inputs are recognized.
Keyboard Tab
The Keyboard tab is the main interface for configuring your Razer BlackWidow V4 X. Here you can change device settings such as key assignments and lighting. Changes are saved automatically to your system and cloud storage.
Customize
The Customize subtab allows modification of your keyboard's key assignments.
- Profile: Data storage for peripheral settings. Profiles can be added, imported, renamed, duplicated, exported, or deleted.
- Gaming Mode: Customize which keys are disabled when Gaming Mode is activated (e.g., Windows Key, Alt + Tab, Alt + F4).
- Keyboard Properties: Access Windows Keyboard Properties to modify settings like repeat delay, repeat rate, and cursor blink rate.
Hypershift
Hypershift mode provides a secondary set of key assignments activated when the Hypershift key (defaulted to the 'fn' key) is held down. Any key can be assigned as a Hypershift key.
Sidebar
Clicking the Sidebar button (☰) reveals all current key assignments for your Razer BlackWidow V4 X.
Key Assignment Functions
Upon selecting a key assignment, you can change its function:
- Default: Returns the key to its original setting.
- Keyboard Function: Assigns keyboard actions, with an option for Turbo mode to emulate repeated presses.
- Mouse Function: Assigns mouse actions, with an option for Turbo mode.
- Inter-device: Changes functionality of other Razer Synapse-enabled devices (e.g., adjusting mouse sensitivity).
- Macro: Assigns a prerecorded sequence of keystrokes. Requires the Macro module.
- Switch Profile: Quickly change profiles.
- Switch Lighting: Easily switch between advanced lighting effects. Requires Chroma Studio module.
- Razer Hypershift: Activates Hypershift mode when the key is held down.
- Launch Program: Opens an app or website using the assigned key.
- Multimedia: Assigns multimedia controls.

- Text Function: Types a prewritten text with a single key press, supporting Unicode and special symbols.
- Disable: Renders the assigned key unusable.
Lighting
The Lighting subtab allows modification of your Razer device's light settings.
- Brightness: Toggle brightness or adjust luminance using the slider.
- Switch Off Lighting: A power-saving tool to disable lighting when the display turns off or the device is idle.
- Quick Effects: Apply preset lighting effects. Some effects are customizable.

Synchronize quick effects with other Razer Chroma-enabled devices by clicking the Chroma Sync button (?).

Profiles Tab
The Profiles tab provides a convenient way to manage all your profiles and link them to your games and applications.
Devices
View which Razer device is using a specific profile.
Linked Games
Link games to connected Razer devices. Select a game, then choose a device and its profile to launch automatically during gameplay. You can sort games by alphabetical order, last played, or most played.
Settings Window
Accessible via the settings button (⚙️), the Settings window allows configuration of startup behavior, display language, viewing master guides, and performing factory resets.
- General Tab: Change software display language, start-up behavior, and theme. Manually sync profiles to the cloud (?).
- Reset Tab: Perform a factory reset on any connected Razer device or reset Razer Synapse tutorials. Note: Resetting a device erases its profiles and on-board memory.
- About Tab: Displays software information, copyright statements, terms of use, and links for software updates and Razer's social communities.
8. Safety and Maintenance
Safety Guidelines
- Operate the device properly and troubleshoot issues by visiting support.razer.com.
- Do not disassemble the device, as this will void your warranty.
- Operate the device within the temperature range of 0°C (32°F) to 40°C (104°F).
Comfort
To avoid discomfort and injury, follow these ergonomic guidelines:
- Position your keyboard and monitor directly in front of you, with your mouse nearby. Keep elbows close to your sides and keyboard within easy reach.
- Adjust chair and table height so the keyboard and mouse are at or below elbow height.
- Maintain good posture with feet supported and shoulders relaxed.
- Keep wrists straight and relaxed while typing. Avoid repetitive bending, extending, or twisting of hands.
- Do not rest wrists on hard surfaces for extended periods.
- Use the provided wrist rest for support.
- Customize keys to suit your work style and minimize repetitive motions.
- Avoid sitting in the same position all day; take breaks to stretch.
If you experience pain, numbness, or tingling, consult a qualified medical doctor immediately.
Maintenance and Use
The Razer BlackWidow V4 X requires minimal maintenance. Once a month, unplug the device and gently clean each component with a soft cloth or cotton swab to prevent dirt buildup.
