2. What's Needed
Product Requirements:
- A PC with a free USB Type-A port.
Razer Synapse 3 Requirements:
- Windows® 10 64-bit (or higher).
- Internet connection for software installation.

4. Setting Up Your Keyboard
- Connect your Razer device to a USB port on your computer. Diagram Description: Illustration showing the keyboard connected to a laptop and a desktop computer via USB.
- Position the ergonomic wrist rest below your keyboard and slide it into place. Diagram Description: Close-up view of the wrist rest attaching to the keyboard.
- Use the Razer Synapse app to customize your keyboard's lighting and create profiles for different playstyles. Install Razer Synapse by downloading the installer from razer.com/synapse when prompted.
5. Using Your Razer Keyboard
Media Controls:
- Play/Pause current track: Press once ▶️||
- Next track: Press twice ⏭️
- Previous track: Press thrice ⏮️
- Mute/Unmute: Press ?
- Decrease volume: Press ? or press and hold.
- Increase volume: Press ? or press and hold.
Keyboard Functions:
Pressing the "fn" modifier key plus keys with secondary functions activates those functions:
- Backlight Control: fn + F11 ➖ or fn + F12 ➕ to adjust LED brightness.
- Sleep Mode: fn + Pause key to suspend all operating system activities, saving electricity when the computer is idle.
On-The-Fly Macro Recording:
To create an On-The-Fly Macro Recording:
- Press fn + F9 Ⓜ️ to start recording. The OTF Macro record key will light up.
- Type the keys you want to record.
- Press fn + F9 Ⓜ️ again to stop recording, or press ESC to cancel. The OTF Macro record key will blink when ready to save.
- Press the desired Macro key to save your recording.
Gaming Mode:
Press fn + F10 ? to enable Gaming Mode. This disables the Windows Key, Alt+Tab, and Alt+F4 functions to prevent accidental usage. You can customize these settings in Razer Synapse. The Gaming mode key will light up when active.

6. Configuring Your Razer Keyboard
Disclaimer: An internet connection is required for installation, updates, and cloud-based features. Registering for a Razer ID account is recommended but optional. Features are subject to change based on software version, connected devices, and supported apps.
Synapse Tab:
The Synapse tab is the default view upon launching Razer Synapse.
Dashboard Subtab:
Provides an overview of your Razer Synapse, allowing access to devices, modules, and online services.

Modules Subtab:
Displays all installed and available modules for installation:
- Alexa: Integrates Alexa Voice Service with Synapse 3 for Chroma-enabled devices.
- Chroma Connect: Control center for Chroma-enabled apps and third-party hardware.
- Chroma Studio: Create advanced Razer Chroma™ lighting effects and manage Chroma Apps.
- Chroma Visualizer: Syncs Chroma devices with media for an immersive listening experience.
- Philips Hue: Sync Razer Chroma devices with your Hue Bridge for an immersive gaming experience.
- Nanoleaf: Configure Nanoleaf light panels and synchronize with Chroma devices.
- Macro: Create and execute complex macros with precise timing.
Global Shortcuts:
Bind operations or Synapse functions to custom key combinations across all device profiles. Only Razer Synapse-enabled device inputs are recognized. Learn more about Profiles.

Keyboard Tab:
The main tab for your Razer Ornata V3, allowing changes to device settings like key assignments and lighting. Changes are saved automatically.
Customize Subtab:
Modify your keyboard's key assignments.

- Profile: Stores peripheral settings. Profiles can be added, imported, renamed, duplicated, exported, or deleted.
- Gaming Mode: Customize which keys to disable when Gaming Mode is active (e.g., Windows Key, Alt+Tab, Alt+F4).
- Keyboard Properties: Access Windows Keyboard Properties to adjust settings like Repeat Delay, Repeat Rate, and Cursor Blink Rate.
Hypershift:
Hypershift mode provides a secondary set of key assignments activated by holding the Hypershift key (defaulted to the 'fn' key). Any key can be assigned as a Hypershift key.
Sidebar:

You can change key assignments to:
- Default: Revert to the original key setting.
- Keyboard Function: Assign a keyboard function, with an optional Turbo mode for repeated presses.
- Mouse Function: Assign a mouse function, with an optional Turbo mode for repeated presses.
- Inter-device: Change functionality of other Razer Synapse-enabled devices (e.g., adjust mouse sensitivity).
- Macro: Execute prerecorded sequences of keystrokes and button presses. Requires the Macro module.
- Switch Profile: Quickly change profiles.
- Switch Lighting: Easily switch between lighting effects. Requires the Chroma Studio module.
- Razer Hypershift: Activate Hypershift mode.
- Launch Program: Open an app or website.
- Multimedia: Assign multimedia controls.
- Windows Shortcuts: Assign a key to a Windows Operating System shortcut command. Visit support.microsoft.com/kb/126449 for more information.
- Text Function: Type predefined text with a key press, supporting Unicode and special characters.
- Disable: Renders the key unusable.
Lighting Subtab:
Modify your Razer device's light settings.

- Brightness: Turn off lighting or adjust luminance with a slider.
- Switch Off Lighting: Disables lighting when the system display turns off or after a set idle period.
- Quick Effects: Apply preset lighting effects. Supports synchronization with other Chroma-enabled devices. LED indicators are not customizable.
Lighting Effect Descriptions:
Name | Description | Customization |

Ambient awareness | Reflects averaged color on the selected screen region. | Select or customize a screen region. |
Audio meter | Lights up according to audio level with a default spectrum of colors. | Select a Color Boost level. |
Breathing | Fades in and out of selected color(s). | Select up to 2 colors or randomize colors. |
Fire | Lights up in warm colors mimicking motion of flames. | No further customization required. |
Reactive | LEDs light up when a key is pressed and fade off after a specified period. | Select a color and a duration. |
Ripple | Light ripples away from the pressed key. | Select a color. |
Spectrum cycling | Cycles between 16.8 million colors indefinitely. | No further customization required. |
Starlight | Each LED has a chance of fading in and out at a random time and duration. | Select up to 2 colors or randomize colors and select a duration. |
Static | LEDs remain lit in the selected color. | Select a color. |
Wave | Lighting scrolls in the selected direction. | Select either left-to-right or right-to-left wave direction. |
Wheel | Keyboard lighting rotates in the selected direction with a default spectrum of colors. | Select either counter-clockwise or clockwise wheel direction. |
Click the Chroma Sync button ? to synchronize effects with other Razer Chroma-enabled devices.

Profiles Tab:
Manage profiles and link them to games and applications.
Devices Subtab:

Import profiles from your computer or the cloud using the import button ?. Create new profiles with the add button ➕. Rename, duplicate, export, or delete profiles using the Miscellaneous button .... Profiles can auto-activate when an application is launched via the Linked Games option.
Linked Games Subtab:

To link games to devices: click a game, then select a device and its profile to launch automatically. Click the Miscellaneous button ... on the device to select a specific profile.
Settings Window:
Accessible via the ⚙️ button. Configure startup behavior, display language, and view master guides for connected devices. Perform factory resets.
General Tab:
Change software language, startup behavior, and theme (Light/Dark). Manually sync profiles to the cloud ☁️ or view master guides.
Reset Tab:
Perform a factory reset on any connected Razer device and/or reset Razer Synapse tutorials. Note: Resetting a device erases all its profiles and on-board memory.
About Tab:
View software information, copyright statements, terms of use, check for updates, and access Razer's social communities.
7. Safety and Maintenance
Safety Guidelines:
- For troubleshooting, unplug the device and contact Razer support at support.razer.com.
- Do not disassemble the device; this voids the warranty. Do not operate under abnormal current loads.
- Keep the device away from liquids, humidity, and moisture. Operate within 0°C (32°F) to 40°C (104°F). If the temperature exceeds this range, unplug the device to allow it to stabilize.
Comfort Guidelines:
To prevent discomfort and injury from repetitive motion:
- Position your keyboard and monitor directly in front of you, with your mouse nearby. Keep elbows at your sides and keyboard within easy reach.
- Adjust chair and table height so the keyboard and mouse are at or below elbow height.
- Ensure feet are supported, posture is straight, and shoulders are relaxed.
- During gameplay, keep your wrist straight and relaxed. Avoid prolonged bending, extending, or twisting of hands.
- Do not rest wrists on hard surfaces for extended periods.
- Use a wrist rest for support while gaming.
- Customize keys to minimize repetitive or awkward motions.
- Avoid sitting in the same position all day. Get up, move around, and stretch arms, shoulders, neck, and legs.
If you experience pain, numbness, or tingling in your hands, wrists, elbows, shoulders, neck, or back, consult a qualified medical doctor immediately.
Maintenance and Use:
The Razer Ornata V3 requires minimal maintenance. Once a month, unplug the device and clean it with a soft cloth or cotton swab to prevent dirt buildup. Do not use soap or harsh cleaning agents.
