Please read these safety instructions carefully before using the appliance:

Product Description & Components

The Smeg MFF01 Milk Frother is designed for heating and frothing milk, and preparing hot chocolate.

Components (Fig. 1):

• 1. Base with motor: The main unit containing the motor.
• 2. Jug: The container for milk or other ingredients.
• 3. Whisk (toothed): For frothing milk or making chocolate.
• 3a. Whisk (smooth): For heating milk.
• 4. Lid: Covers the jug during operation.
• 5. Measuring cap: Used for adding ingredients through the lid.
• 6. START/STOP button: To start and stop cycles.
• 7. Program selection dial: To choose between programs.
• 8. LED indicator: Shows appliance status.

Control Panel & Programs:

The appliance has 6 pre-set programs and a manual mode, selected via the program dial (7).

Liquid Level Indicators:

• MAX (Chocolate/Heating): Maximum fill level for hot chocolate and milk heating functions.
• MAX (Frothing): Maximum fill level for milk frothing.
• MIN: Minimum fill level.

Operation

General Recommendations:

• For best frothing results, use cold whole milk.
• Allow the appliance to cool down between cycles if heating.
• Never operate the appliance without liquid; this can damage the jug.
• Always fill between the MIN and MAX levels.
• The LED indicator (8) will flash if there is an error (e.g., no jug, jug removed during operation).

Heating or Frothing Milk:

1. Plug in the appliance. The LED (8) will flash.
2. Remove the lid (4) and pour cold milk into the jug (2), observing the MIN/MAX levels.
3. Replace the lid (4).
4. Select the desired program by turning the dial (7) to the corresponding icon.
5. Press the START/STOP button (6). The LED (8) will light up steadily.
6. The cycle ends with an audible signal and the LED (8) turning off.
7. To stop the cycle early, press START/STOP (6).
8. Carefully remove the lid (4) and pour the frothed milk.

ℹ️ Add sugar or syrups after the cycle is complete.

Preparing Hot Chocolate:

1. Remove the lid (4) and add chocolate ingredients to the jug (2) according to Smeg's recipes, observing the MIN/MAX levels.
2. Close the lid (4).
3. Select the Hot Chocolate program (?).
4. Press START/STOP (6) and wait for the program to finish.

Manual Mode

This mode allows for custom heating and frothing.

• Pour milk into the jug (2) up to the desired level (MIN/MAX).
• Attach the lid (4).
• Select the Manual mode (⚙️ [Manual]) by turning the dial (7).
• Press START/STOP (6). The LED (8) will light up. The whisk speed and temperature increase proportionally to the cycle duration.
• You can stop the cycle at any time by pressing START/STOP (6).
• The manual mode will stop automatically after a certain time for safety. An audible signal and the LED (8) turning off indicate the end of the cycle.
• ℹ️ During manual operation, you can remove the measuring cap (5) to add powdered ingredients (e.g., instant coffee, cappuccino mix, tea). Add them slowly to avoid stopping the whisk.

Cleaning and Maintenance

⚠️ Always unplug the appliance and let it cool down before cleaning. Never immerse the motor base (1) in water or other liquids.

• Jug (2), Lid (4), Measuring cap (5), Whisks (3, 3a): These parts are dishwasher safe.
• Base with motor (1): Clean with a damp cloth, then dry thoroughly. Do not use detergents or abrasive materials.

Recipes

Hot Chocolate (Serves 2)

• Ingredients: 250 ml Whole milk, 90 g Dark chocolate shavings
• Preparation:
  1. Pour milk into the jug (2).
  2. Add chocolate shavings.
  3. Close the lid (4).
  4. Select the Hot Chocolate program (?).
  5. Press START/STOP (6) and wait for the program to finish.

Cappuccino (Serves 2)

• Ingredients: 200 ml Whole milk, 80 ml Coffee, 40 ml Strong coffee (optional)
• Preparation:
  1. Prepare coffee using your coffee machine and pour into cups.
  2. Pour milk into the milk frother jug (2).
  3. Close the lid (4).
  4. Select the Hot Milk with thick foam program (?).
  5. Press START/STOP (6) and wait for the program to finish.
  6. Pour the milk foam over the coffee.
  7. Add a teaspoon of sugar or syrup if desired.

Espresso with Ice (Serves 2)

• Ingredients: 200 ml Whole milk, 80 ml Coffee, 4 ice cubes
• Preparation:
  1. Place ice cubes in 2 glasses.
  2. Prepare coffee using your coffee machine and pour over the ice.
  3. Add a teaspoon of sugar or syrup if desired.
  4. Pour cold milk into the milk frother jug (2).
  5. Close the lid (4).
  6. Select the Cold Milk with light foam or thick foam program (?).
  7. Press START/STOP (6) and wait for the program to finish.
  8. Pour the milk foam into the glasses with coffee and ice.
