Wall Anchoring Instructions
It is critical to secure the furniture to the wall to prevent tipover accidents. Follow these instructions carefully:
Important: Ensure you are drilling into a suitable wall material. If unsure, consult a professional.
- For solid walls (e.g., concrete, brick): Drill holes using an Ø 8 mm (5/16") drill bit. Insert wall plugs (part 121714). Attach brackets using screws.
- For hollow walls (e.g., plasterboard): Drill holes using an Ø 8 mm (5/16") drill bit. Insert appropriate wall anchors (not specified, but typically required for hollow walls). Attach brackets using screws.
- For wooden studs: Drill pilot holes using an Ø 3 mm (1/8") drill bit. Attach brackets directly with screws.
The diagrams show attaching the anti-tip bracket (part 106989) to the furniture and then securing it to the wall. The recommended URL for more information on secure furniture is www.IKEA.com/secure-it.
Measurements for wall anchoring: Some brackets require placement approximately 70 mm (3/4") from the top edge, while others are approximately 30 mm (≈1 1/4") from the top edge.
