Preset Wireless Security
This router features a unique WiFi network name (SSID) and network key (password) generated specifically for your device to enhance wireless security. This information is located on the label on the bottom of the product.
NETGEAR recommends keeping the preset SSID and password. Changing them means the information on the product label will no longer apply.
Record your preset wireless settings:
WiFi network name (SSID): _______________________________
Network key (password): ________________________________
If you change the preset wireless settings, record them here:
Wireless network name (SSID): _______________________________
Network key (password): _____________________________________
If you need to retrieve or update your password, navigate to http://www.routerlogin.net in a web browser. Log in using the default user name 'admin' and password 'password'. Then, select 'Wireless Settings' to find your wireless password.
Connect Wireless Devices to Your Router
You can add wireless computers and other devices to your network using either the Manual Method or the WiFi Protected Setup (WPS) method.
Manual Method
- Open the wireless connection management utility on the device you wish to connect (e.g., iPhone, laptop, computer, gaming device). This utility scans for available wireless networks.
- Locate and select the preset NETGEAR wireless network name (SSID) from the list. The SSID is found on the product label on the router's bottom. ? Note: If you changed your network name during setup, look for that new name.
- Enter the preset password (or your custom password if changed) and click 'Connect'.
- Repeat steps 1-3 for each additional wireless device.
WPS Method
If your device supports WPS (WiFi Protected Setup), which NETGEAR calls 'Push 'N' Connect', you may be prompted to press the WPS button [WPS button] on the router instead of entering a password. If this occurs:
- Press the WPS button [WPS button] on the router.
- Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on the client device or follow its specific WPS instructions to complete the connection process. The device will then connect to your router.
- Repeat this process for other WPS-enabled wireless devices.
? Note: WPS does not support WEP security. Attempting to connect a WEP client using WPS will not work.
Troubleshooting
The browser cannot display the web page.
- Ensure your computer is connected to one of the router's four LAN Ethernet ports or wirelessly to the router.
- Verify that the Wireless LED [wireless LED] is lit.
- Close and reopen your web browser to clear any cached pages.
- Try browsing to http://www.routerlogin.net.
- If your computer is configured with a static or fixed IP address (uncommon), change it to obtain an IP address automatically from the router.
