Installation Guide for Gutter and Downpipe Frost Protection
Product Description
The Raychem GM-2X self-regulating heating cable creates a meltwater evacuation path in gutters and downpipes, providing frost protection.
Kit Contents
- GM-2X pre-terminated, self-regulating heating cable (5 m, 12 m or 20 m) with 8 m power cable.
- Raychem GM-RAKE fixing bracket
- Raychem RayClic-E-02 end seal kit
Important Notes
Chemelex requires the use of a 30 mA residual current device. Damaged cables are non-repairable and must be disposed of. The GM-2X cable is not suitable for asphalt, bitumen, or roofing felt applications; use a special fluoropolymer jacketed cable (8BTV-2-CT) for such uses.
Installation Instructions
- Arrange the heating cable in the gutter and downpipe as indicated in the drawings, using the GM-RAKE fixing bracket (refer to enclosed installation instructions).
- If the heating cable is too long, it can be shortened and terminated using the RayClic-E-02 kit (refer to enclosed instructions).
- Power connections should be made by a qualified electrical contractor. Using a thermostat (type HTS-D) will improve the system's energy efficiency.
Components
The diagram illustrates the installation of the Raychem GM-2X heating cable system. It shows a section of a roof gutter and downpipe. The GM-RAKE bracket is attached to the gutter edge, guiding and securing the GM-2X self-regulating heating cable as it runs down the downpipe. The cable terminates near the ground with the RayClic-E-02 end seal kit.
