Product Overview
The Raychem XTV family of self-regulating, parallel circuit heating cables is designed for process temperature maintenance applications up to 121°C, which may be subject to steam cleaning. These cables are suitable for maintaining the temperature of pipes and vessels, and can also be used for frost protection of large pipes or in applications requiring high temperature exposure capability.
Cable Construction
The cable comprises the following layers:
- Outer Jacket: High temperature fluoropolymer
- Tinned copper braid (Max. resistance 0.010 Ω/m)
- Insulation: High temperature fluoropolymer
- Self-regulating conductive fibres
- Spacer
- Conductors: 2.3 mm² nickel plated copper

The numbers above are for circuit length estimation only. For more detailed information, use the Chemelex TraceCalc software or contact your local Chemelex representative. Chemelex requires the use of a 30 mA residual current device for maximum safety. If design results in higher leakage current, the preferred trip level for adjustable devices is 30 mA above inherent capacitive leakage, or the next common available trip level for non-adjustable devices, with a maximum of 300 mA. All safety aspects need to be proven.
Approvals
Approved for use in ordinary and hazardous areas: Zone 1 and Zone 2 (Gas), Zone 21 and Zone 22 (Dust).
Temperature Classification
- T3: unconditional (except 20XTV2-CT: T2)
- T6 ... T4: using stabilized design (except 20XTV2-CT: T6 ... T3 using stabilized design)
Raychem heat-tracing products are approved for the listed temperature classifications by using the principles of stabilized design, as per system classification approach. Use TraceCalc design software or contact Chemelex.
Product Certification
