Basic Product Maintenance
Oiling Shredder
All cross-cut shredders require oil for peak performance. Failure to oil can lead to diminished sheet capacity, intrusive noise, and eventual stoppage. Fellowes recommends oiling the shredder each time the waste bin is emptied.
Oiling Procedure (Repeat Twice)
- ⚙️(O) Set the switch to OFF (O).
- ?➡️? Apply oil across the paper entry.
- ⚙️(◀️) Set to Reverse (◀️) for 2-3 seconds.
CAUTION: Only use a non-aerosol vegetable oil in a long nozzle container, such as Fellowes 35250.
Troubleshooting
- Overheat Indicator (?): When illuminated, the shredder has exceeded its maximum operating temperature and needs to cool down. The indicator remains lit, and the shredder will not operate during the recovery time. Refer to Basic Shredding Operation for continuous operation and recovery times.
- SafeSense® Indicator (?): If hands are too close to the paper entry, the SafeSense® indicator will illuminate, and the shredder will stop shredding.
Paper Jam
- ⚙️(◀️) Set to Reverse (◀️).
- ↔️ Alternate slowly back and forth.
- ⚙️(O)➡️? Set to OFF (O) and unplug.
- ?➡️? Gently pull uncut paper from the paper entry. Plug in.
- ⚙️(▷) Set to Auto-On (▷) and resume shredding.
