COLDZONE A2L R-SERIES NEXT-GEN MINICON
1/2 to 6 HP Air Cooled Condensing Units
Introduction
The Next-Gen MiniCon R-Series, ranging from ½ to 6 HP, are engineered for increased efficiency, enhanced features, ease of service, and a wider array of cataloged options. These units are suitable for various commercial applications, including cafeterias, convenience stores, restaurants, and fast-food outlets, offering versatility across many other applications. Constructed from high-quality materials, they provide increased flexibility and significantly improved efficiency, leading to lower long-term operating costs.
The small profile product line is designed to utilize refrigerants R454A, R454C, and R455A. Available with scroll compressors, the standard Next-Gen R-Series is rated for operation in ambient air temperatures up to 110° F.
Integral Sub-Cooling Circuit
All Next-Gen MiniCon units feature an integral sub-cooling circuit. This circuit allows saturated liquid to flow from the receiver to the condenser, where the refrigerant is sub-cooled by ambient air. This process provides an average of 3 to 5° F of sub-cooling, enhancing efficiency and ensuring optimal expansion device operation.
Diagram Description: The system diagram illustrates the flow of refrigerant, showing components like Discharge Gas, Liquid to Receiver, Receiver, Saturated Gas, Sight Glass, Saturated Liquid, Subcooled Liquid to Expansion Valve, and Condenser Coil.

Model Nomenclature
The model nomenclature system provides a structured way to identify unit configurations. It breaks down into 'Configurable Base Model' and 'Pre-Configuration Codes'. Key elements include Brand (Coldzone), Style (Flooded/Non-Flooded), Compressor Style (Scroll), Compressor Configuration, Horsepower (1/2 to 6 HP), Temperature Range (Extended Medium, Low, Medium), Refrigerant (R454A, R454C, R455A), Voltage, and Vintage. Pre-Assembly Codes, such as 'NT' for No Defrost Timer/Kit, are also included.
Performance Data and Specifications Summary
This document provides comprehensive technical data for the A2L R-Series Next-Gen Minicon units. Detailed capacity data (BTUH) is presented in extensive tables for various models, refrigerants (R454A, R454C, R455A), and operating conditions, covering a wide range of ambient and suction temperatures.
Electrical data, including Rated Load Amps (RLA), Locked Rotor Amps (LRA), Minimum Circuit Ampacity (MCA), and Maximum Overcurrent Protection (MOPD), is detailed for different voltage configurations (208-230V/1/60 Hz, 200-220V/1/50 Hz, 208-230V/3/60 Hz, 200-220V/3/50 Hz, 460V/3/60 Hz, 380V/3/50 Hz) and includes information on defrost provisions and electric defrost kits.
Specifications cover unit dimensions (Depth, Width, Height), cabinet sizes (FM1 to FM4), fan quantities, approximate shipping weights, and sound levels (dBA) for both medium and low-temperature models. Department of Energy Annual Walk-In Energy Factor (AWEF) ratings are also provided, indicating energy efficiency for different refrigerant and temperature configurations.
