Remote Control for Garage Doors
Remote Control for Garage Doors
This remote control is designed for operating garage doors and other radio-controlled devices. It is important to follow safety guidelines during operation and programming.
Important Safety Precautions:
- Do not use the remote control with garage doors that lack an emergency stop and reverse function, as required by safety regulations.
- Ensure no objects obstruct the path of garage or driveway doors during programming to prevent property damage.
- Be aware that the device may be subject to interference from mobile or stationary transmitters, which can affect both the handheld remote and the vehicle's transmitter.
The transmitter is located in the rear-view mirror. It can be programmed to operate on three different frequencies, allowing remote control of driveway gates, garage doors, home lighting, security systems, and other radio-controlled devices. The programming procedure for these devices is similar to that for garage doors.
In some countries, this system is also known as the universal HomeLink® remote.
For additional information, refer to section 66, INFORMATION AND SUPPORT.
Before Programming
Before starting the programming process:
- It may be necessary to press and release the remote control buttons multiple times. To prevent potential damage to the motor, it is recommended to switch off the gate opener power during these cycles.
- It is advisable to insert a new battery into the handheld remote control (or other device) before programming. If the receiver unit of the garage door opener (located in the garage) has an antenna, ensure it is pointing straight down.
Programming
Programming the remote control for garage doors:
With the engine off:
- Ensure the ignition is turned on (but the engine is not running).
- Hold the handheld remote control for the garage door opener 50 to 150 mm (2 to 6 inches) away from the transmitter in the rear-view mirror, ensuring the indicator light is in view.
- Simultaneously press and hold the desired button on the rear-view mirror transmitter and the button on the handheld remote. Keep both buttons pressed. The indicator light will flash, first slowly, then rapidly. Release the buttons when the indicator light flashes rapidly. Rapid flashing indicates successful programming.
- If the indicator light does not flash rapidly within 60 seconds, release the transmitter and handheld remote buttons and repeat the procedure starting from step 2. Try positioning the handheld remote at a different angle and/or distance.
- Press and hold the programmed garage door opener button and observe the indicator light.
- If the indicator light remains continuously lit, programming is complete. The device should respond when the garage door opener button is pressed and held for approximately 1-2 seconds.
- If the indicator light flashes rapidly for 2 seconds and then remains continuously lit, you need to perform programming using the instructions for rolling code devices provided below.
Deleting Programming
Before the first programming, ensure the engine is off:
- Ensure the ignition is turned on (but the engine is not running).
- Press and hold the two outer buttons on the rear-view mirror remote. Keep the buttons pressed until the indicator light begins to flash (this will take approximately 20 seconds), then release the buttons.
All garage door opener programs are now erased. Note: This procedure should not be performed when programming buttons for an additional garage door opener remote.
Programming Rolling Code Devices
Note: Having an assistant will greatly simplify the following steps. After pressing the button, you will have only 30 seconds to complete step 3.
- Locate the 'learn' or 'smart' button or switch on the garage door opener receiver unit (gate drive unit). The label on the button or switch may vary depending on the equipment manufacturer.
- Press and release the button labeled 'learn' or 'smart'.
- Return to the vehicle, press and hold the programmed garage door opener button for 2 seconds, then release it.
- Repeat the 'press/hold/release' sequence three times in a row to complete the programming process.
The garage door opener unit in the rear-view mirror should now operate the rolling code device.
Reprogramming an Individual Remote Control Button
To program a device to a previously programmed button:
- Press and hold the previously programmed garage door opener button for at least 20 seconds, but no more than 30 seconds, until the indicator light begins to flash.
- Without releasing the button on the rear-view mirror, bring the garage door opener remote control 50-150 mm (2-6 inches) from the rear-view mirror transmitter, ensuring the indicator light is in view.
- Complete step 3 of the Programming procedure.
Programming Driveway Gates
Programming driveway gates for some manufacturers requires a cycle of pressing and re-pressing the handheld remote button every 2 seconds.
Keep the button on the rear-view mirror pressed while performing the cycle of pressing the handheld remote button until the indicator light flashes rapidly.
