Installation Instructions
Step 1
Turn off and disconnect water supply. Unbolt and remove old toilet. Remove old wax ring and clean floor flange area with a putty knife.
Diagram Description: Visual shows turning off the water supply valve, disconnecting the supply line, unbolting the old toilet, and using a putty knife to clean the floor flange.
Step 2
Install new wax ring (not included) on the bottom of the toilet (A), ensuring it does not cover the toilet outlet. Alternate Method: The wax ring may also be placed onto the floor flange.
Diagram Description: Visual shows a wax ring being placed onto the bottom of the toilet bowl, with an indication that it should not obstruct the outlet.
Step 3
Install new floor mounting bolts (not included) upright in the floor flange slots. Place the toilet (A) over the floor flange/waste line opening, aligning the floor mounting bolts with the corresponding holes in the toilet. Press down firmly and twist the toilet (A) slightly to compress the wax ring and ensure a seal between the toilet (A) and the floor.
Diagram Description: Visual shows floor bolts being inserted vertically into the flange, then the toilet bowl being lowered onto the flange, aligning the bolts with the bowl's mounting holes. Pressure is applied to seat the bowl.
Step 4
Place one plastic washer (O) over each floor mounting bolt and assemble the floor mounting bolt nut to the bolt. Tighten the nut carefully until just snug. Cut excess length from the floor mounting bolt using a hacksaw. Then install the plastic bolt caps (O) onto the plastic washers (O).
Diagram Description: Visual shows a plastic washer and nut being placed on a floor bolt, then the excess bolt length being cut off with a hacksaw, and finally a plastic cap being fitted over the washer and nut.
Step 5
The fill valve coupling nut (H) is provided to connect the water supply line to the fill valve. Do not use pipe dope! Hand tighten only! Overtightening may split the fill valve and void the warranty.
Diagram Description: Visual shows the fill valve coupling nut connecting the water supply line to the fill valve, with a warning against using pipe dope and to hand tighten.
Step 6
If using a flexible water supply line (not included), assemble it to the threads of the tank fill valve. Do not use Teflon tape or pipe dope on the fill valve threads. This could result in over-tightening and breakage.
Diagram Description: Visual shows a flexible water supply line being connected to the fill valve threads, with a caution against using Teflon tape or pipe dope.
Step 7
Ensure the refill tube adapter (I) is attached to the top of the flush valve overflow tube. Note: Flow from the refill tube must be positioned directly over the overflow tube.
Diagram Description: Visual shows the refill tube adapter correctly positioned on the overflow tube, with water flow directed into it.
Step 8: IMPORTANT - Flush System
Always clear sand and rust from the system. To do this:
- Remove the valve top by lifting the arm and rotating the top 1/8 turn counterclockwise.
- While holding a container over the uncapped valve to prevent splashing, turn the water supply on and off a few times. Leave the water supply off.
- Replace the top by engaging the lugs and rotating 1/8 turn clockwise. Ensure the top is turned to the locked position. The valve may not turn on if the top is not fully turned to the locked position.
Diagram Description: Visual sequence shows removing the valve top, flushing the system by briefly turning water on and off, and then reattaching the valve top securely.
Step 9
Turn on the water supply to the toilet and check for leaks. Inspect connection points of the water supply line to the tank fill valve, water supply line to the water supply valve, and around the base of the toilet. Carefully tighten any connections that are leaking.
Diagram Description: Visual shows the water supply being turned on and arrows pointing to various connection points to check for leaks.
Step 10
Adjust water level in the tank to the marked water line. Turn the water level adjustment screw (J) to move the float cup (K) up or down.
Diagram Description: Visual shows the water level adjustment screw and float cup inside the tank, with an arrow indicating how to adjust the water level.
Step 11
Check the operation and nut tightness (left-hand thread) of the tank lever (L). Also, check the flapper chain for looseness (there should be slight slack when at rest) and ensure the flush valve flapper seals properly.
Diagram Description: Visual shows checking the tank lever, the slack in the flapper chain, and the seal of the flapper.
Step 12
Carefully place the tank cover (M) onto the top of the toilet (A).
Diagram Description: Visual shows the tank cover being placed onto the toilet tank.
Step 13
Install the toilet seat (N) per manufacturer's instructions.
Diagram Description: Visual shows the toilet seat being installed onto the bowl.
