Non-Electric Mechanical Door Chime with Viewer DH992

Congratulations on a wise purchase!

Carlon's Non-Electric Door Chime is designed for mounting on doors or walls from 3/4 to 4-3/4 inches thick. When assembled, the push button with nameplate and viewer are on the outside, and the chime base and cover are on the inside.

Nameplate

Remove the name card from the back of the nameplate by pulling from the open end. Write your name and slide the card back into the name card slot.

Installation Instructions

  1. Place the nameplate template (Figure #1) on the outside of the door. Position the 3/8 inch diameter hole for the push button shaft approximately 48 to 54 inches above the bottom of the door. Note: Ensure the template is parallel to the edge of the door.

Diagram Figure #1 shows a template for the outside of the door. It indicates positioning for a 3/8 inch diameter hole for the push button shaft, approximately 48 to 54 inches above the bottom of the door. It also notes to ensure the template is parallel to the door edge.

  2. Mark the screw and 3/8 inch diameter hole locations. Drill a 3/8 inch diameter hole through the door. Note: Ensure the template is parallel to the edge of the door.

  3. Assemble the push button shaft to the button by simply pressing the end of the shaft with the knob into the button slot.

  4. Insert the assembled button shaft through the 3/8 inch hole.

  5. Place the nameplate over the button and mount with the enclosed screws.

  6. Place the base plate template (Figure #2) on the inside of the door, aligning the 3/8 inch hole on the plate with the 3/8 inch hole drilled in the door. Note: Ensure the template is parallel to the edge of the door. Mark screw locations.

Diagram Figure #2 shows a template for the inside of the door. It indicates aligning the 3/8 inch hole on the base plate with the 3/8 inch hole drilled in the door, and marking screw locations. It also notes to ensure the template is parallel to the door edge.

  7. With a screwdriver, pry up pin "A" (Figure #3) to allow the push button shaft to pass through hinge "B".

Diagram Figure #3 shows a detail of the mechanism. 'A' represents a pin that needs to be pried up using a screwdriver to allow the push button shaft to pass through hinge 'B'.

  8. Place the chime base over the shaft and mount the chime base with the enclosed screws.

  9. Push the button shaft against the nameplate to ensure the button is fully extended.

  10. Push pin "A" down through the button shaft and into the hole in hinge "B" until seated. Note: Hinge "B" may need to be pried forward slightly to allow pin "A" to pass through the holes in the button slot.

  11. Test the chime.

  12. Break off the button shaft at the desired length and replace the chime cover.

Viewer Installation

Mark on the door where you want the viewer positioned. Drill a 9/16 inch hole through the door. Unscrew the viewer and place the peep hole end (magnifying piece) through the front of the door. Place the other end through the back of the door. Turn clockwise to tighten.
