This manual provides comprehensive information for the LG TONE Free true wireless stereo headset, covering setup, usage, features, safety, and specifications.
Introduction
The LG TONE Free (TONE-UFP5) is a lightweight wireless headset utilizing Bluetooth technology. It is designed for use with devices supporting A2DP or Hands-Free Bluetooth Profiles, offering high-definition audio and call capabilities.
Note: For optimal performance and to prevent product damage or misuse, please read all information carefully before using the headset.
Caution: Ensure only authentic LG Electronics components are used. Non-authentic components may damage the product and void the warranty. Use the provided USB Type-C™ cable.

Note: Actual product design may differ from images. A mid-sized ear gel is attached by default. Ensure charging terminals are clean.
2. How to Pair
Step 1: Enable Bluetooth on your mobile phone or connected device.
Step 2: Open the charging case with the earbuds inside. Press and hold the touchpad on either earbud for 3-5 seconds until the battery status indicator blinks blue, indicating search mode.
Step 3 (Android 6.0+ with Fast Pair): When the Fast Pair connection pop-up appears on your phone, tap it to connect. Ensure Bluetooth and location settings are enabled.
Step 3 (Other Devices/iOS): If the pop-up doesn't appear, select "[LG-TONE-FP5]" from your mobile phone's Bluetooth menu and connect.
Caution: When pairing, ensure you connect to "LG-TONE-FP5", not "LG-TONE-FP5_LE". If the model name appears abnormally on Android devices, rename it in the Bluetooth settings.
Note: To connect to another device, repeat the pairing process. The product's Bluetooth name is "LG-TONE-FP5".
Automatic Reconnection
Earbuds automatically reconnect when the charging case cover is opened. They disconnect when the case cover is closed with both earbuds inside.
3. Wearing Earbuds
Separate the earbuds from the charging case and adjust them for a comfortable fit. Wearing detection will sound when properly placed.
Note: Using ear gels that fit your ears can improve Active Noise Canceling (ANC) performance and music sound quality.
4. Playing Music
- Play/Pause: Touch the left or right earbud once.
- Adjust Volume: Touch the left earbud twice to decrease volume, or the right earbud twice to increase volume.
- Play Next: Touch the left or right earbud three times.
Note: Touchpad function operations can be customized via the LG TONE Free app.
5. Mobile Calling Functions
- Answering Calls (Ringing): Touch the left or right earbud once.
- Ending Calls (Talking): Touch the left or right earbud twice.
- Making Calls (Idle): Calls made from the mobile phone connect automatically to the headset.
- Receiving Calls while on the Phone: Touch the left or right earbud once to put the current call on hold and answer the incoming call.
- Rejecting Calls (Ringing): Touch and hold the left or right earbud.
6. Listen to the Ambient Sound (LAS) / Active Noise Cancellation (ANC)
Listen to the Ambient Sound (LAS): Allows you to hear surrounding sounds for situational awareness.
Active Noise Cancellation (ANC): Blocks ambient sound for an immersive listening experience.
Switching Modes: Touch and hold the left or right earbud to toggle between ANC and LAS modes.
Note: LAS and ANC functions can be configured in the LG TONE Free app, including Conversation mode. Using these features consumes battery faster.
Caution: LAS mode may suddenly amplify ambient sounds. When using ANC outdoors, be mindful of your surroundings for safety.
7. Charging
Wired Charging
Connect the USB Type-C™ cable to the charging case. The charging status is indicated on the case.
Note: Earbuds and charging case charge simultaneously. The charging port is for charging only and cannot power other devices.
8. Checking the Battery Status
The battery status indicator on the charging case shows the battery level when earbuds are inside, or the case's level when they are not.

Note: If the charging case has no charge, no indicator will display. Keep the charging case charged as earbuds cannot be turned on/off independently.

Warnings:
- Do not drop the product from a high place.
- Avoid contact with water, alcohol, or benzene.
- Do not store in wet or dusty locations.
- Do not place heavy objects on the product.
- The product is IPX4 waterproof (earbuds only) for daily life use; do not submerge or use in humid locations like bathrooms.
Cautions:
- Do not disassemble, adjust, or repair arbitrarily.
- Keep away from excessive heat or flammable materials.
- Using an incompatible charger may damage the product.
- Prevent infants or children from swallowing magnets or small components.
- Ensure no foreign objects enter charging connectors to prevent fire or electric shock.
- Consult a doctor before use if you have an implanted medical device.
- The built-in battery is not user-replaceable. Improper replacement can cause explosion, overheating, or injury. Contact an authorized service provider for battery replacement. Recycle or dispose of batteries separately from household waste.
- Risk of fire or explosion if the battery is replaced with an incorrect type.
- Do not store or transport at pressures lower than 11.6 kPa or altitudes above 15000 m.
- Do not expose batteries to fire, hot ovens, or mechanical crushing/cutting, as this can cause explosions.
- Avoid extremely high temperatures or low air pressure environments, which can lead to explosions or leakage.
- Dispose of old batteries properly according to local procedures to prevent explosions or fires.
Note: Clean the product if exposed to excessive sweat. Keep earbuds clean. Prolonged wear may cause discomfort or skin irritation.

Enjoy high-definition voice calls and music if your connected device supports HD Voice Calling.
Battery Status Indicator Details
- Bluetooth Search Mode: Battery status indicator flashes blue.
- Battery below 20%: Indicator turns on and off in red.
- Battery 20% - 80%: Indicator turns on and off in yellow.
- Battery 80% or more: Indicator turns on and off in green.
- Problem during charging: Indicator flashes red.
- Charging (charger connected): Indicator turns on in red.
- Charging complete (charger connected): Indicator turns on in green.
Out of Range
If the connected device is out of effective communication range, the signal weakens and connection is lost. The product will attempt to reconnect automatically when back in range. If not, touch an earbud once to reconnect.
LG TONE Free App
Install the "LG TONE Free" app to access features like Earbud Battery Check, Voice Alert, Equalizer Mode changes, Last Connected Location, and Find My Earbuds. Search "LG TONE Free" on Google Play Store or App Store. Requires Android 7.0+ or iOS 11+.
Troubleshooting
- No Power: Check and charge the battery.
- Unable to Make Calls: Ensure the mobile phone supports headset and hands-free functions. Check and charge the battery.
- Unable to Register Earbuds: Ensure earbuds are on and in search mode (press and hold touchpad for 3-5 seconds while in case).
- Earbud Issues/Factory Reset: While earbuds are in the charging case, press and hold the touchpad on either earbud for 10+ seconds. The charging case indicator will flash red, indicating a factory reset. Reconnect after reset.

Bluetooth Connection Precautions

Important Safety Information
Avoiding Hearing Damage
Using the headset at high volumes can cause permanent hearing loss. Set volume to a safe level. Limit usage time at high volumes, avoid using volume to block noise, and turn down volume if you cannot hear nearby conversations. Consult your handset user guide for volume adjustment.
