Introduction
The LG TONE Free (TONE-FP5) is a lightweight wireless headset utilizing Bluetooth technology. It serves as an audio accessory for devices supporting A2DP or Hands-Free Bluetooth Profiles.
Note: For optimal performance and to prevent damage or misuse, please read all information carefully before using the headset. LG Electronics Inc. reserves the right to make changes to this manual due to typographical errors or inaccuracies.
Safety Precautions
The following precautions are provided to prevent accidents and damage. Please familiarize yourself with them. Precautions are classified into "WARNING" and "CAUTION".

Warnings
- Do not drop the product from a high place.
- Avoid contact with water, alcohol, or benzene.
- Do not store the product in a wet or dusty place.
- Do not place heavy objects on the product.
- This product is splash-proof to the IPX4 level against water splashes (applies to earbuds only). Do not submerge in water or use in humid locations like bathrooms.
Cautions
- Do not disassemble, adjust, or repair the product arbitrarily.
- Keep away from excessive heat or flammable materials.
- Using an incompatible charger may damage the product.
- Ensure infants or children do not swallow magnets or small components.
- Prevent foreign objects from entering the charger's connectors (charging port and power plug) to avoid fire or electric shock.
- If you have an implanted medical device, consult your doctor before use.
- The product contains a built-in, non-removable battery. Do not attempt to remove or replace it, as this may cause explosion.
- Lithium-ion batteries are hazardous. Improper replacement can damage the device.
- Dispose of batteries according to local procedures; do not discard them arbitrarily.
- Disconnect the device when fully charged to prevent unnecessary energy consumption. Use an accessible power outlet for charging.
- Disposing of a battery in fire, a hot oven, or mechanically crushing/cutting it can result in an explosion.
- Exposure to extremely low air pressure may cause an explosion or leakage of flammable liquid or gas.
Note: If the product is exposed to excessive sweat, clean it. Keep the earbuds clean.

Overview
Charging Case
Description: Features a charging port, charging terminals, and a battery status indicator.
Note: Actual product design may differ from manual images.

Earbuds
Description: Each earbud includes a microphone, speaker mesh, touchpad, and charging terminals.
Note: Ensure charging terminals are clean. Appearance and specifications may vary by model.
Pairing and Connecting
Fast Pair
- Turn on Bluetooth on your mobile phone or device.
- Open the charging case with earbuds inside. Press and hold the touchpad on either earbud for 3-5 seconds until the battery status indicator blinks blue.
- When the Fast Pair pop-up appears on your mobile phone screen, tap to connect. (Requires Android 6.0+ with Bluetooth and location settings enabled.)
- If the pop-up doesn't appear, select "[LG-TONE-FP5]" from the mobile phone's Bluetooth menu to connect (for iOS or Android 5.0 and lower).
❗ CAUTION: When connecting via Bluetooth, ensure you select "LG-TONE-FP5", not "LG-TONE-FP5_LE".
Note: To connect to another device, repeat the pairing procedure.
Automatic Reconnection
Earbuds reconnect automatically when the charging case cover is opened. They disconnect when the case cover is closed with both earbuds inside.
Wearing Earbuds
- Separate earbuds from the case and adjust them for a comfortable fit.
- You will hear a wearing detection alarm when the earbuds are properly worn.
Note: Using ear gels that fit your ears can improve Active Noise Canceling (ANC) performance and music sound quality.

Note: Touchpad function operations can be customized in the LG TONE Free app settings.
Mobile Calling Functions

Listen to the Ambient Sound (LAS) / Active Noise Cancellation (ANC)
Listen to the Ambient Sound (LAS)
The LAS function allows you to hear ambient sounds, helping you recognize your surroundings and potential risks.
Active Noise Cancellation (ANC)
The ANC function blocks most ambient sounds, enabling you to listen to music or watch videos with minimal interference.
Control: Touch and hold the left or right earbud to switch between ANC and LAS modes.
Customization: LAS and ANC functions can be configured in the LG TONE Free app. The app also allows configuration for Conversation mode.
Note: Using LAS or ANC functions consumes battery faster. These functions can be used while idle, listening to music, or on a call.
*ANC is an acronym for Active Noise Cancellation.
❗ CAUTION: When LAS mode is enabled, ambient sound may suddenly become loud. When using ANC outdoors, be aware of your surroundings for safety.
Charging
Wired Charging
Connect the charging cable to the charging case. The charging status will be displayed on the case.
Note: Both earbuds and the charging case charge simultaneously. The charging port is for charging the case only and cannot power other devices. A charging cable must be purchased separately.
Checking the Battery Status
The battery status indicator displays the battery level of the earbuds when they are in the case, or the charging case's battery level when they are not.

Note: When the charging case lid is closed, the case's battery status is shown. If the case has no charge, it won't display and cannot function. It's recommended to keep the charging case charged as earbuds cannot be turned on/off independently.

Out of Range
If the connected device is outside the effective communication range, the signal weakens and communication is lost. The effective range can vary based on surroundings. The product automatically reconnects when the device is back in range. If not, touch an earbud once to reconnect.
LG TONE Free App
Installing the "LG TONE Free" app provides access to features like: Check Earbud Battery, Voice Alert, Change Equalizer Mode, Check Last Connected Location Information, and Find My Earbuds.
Download the app by searching "LG TONE Free" on the Google Play Store or App Store. The app supports Android 7.0+ and iOS 11+.
Troubleshooting
Check the following if you encounter issues. Some issues may not be malfunctions.

Radio Frequency Exposure
This headset transmits and receives radio frequency (RF) electromagnetic fields. It is designed to operate in compliance with RF exposure guidelines and limits set by national authorities and international health agencies when used with compatible LG Electronics mobile phones.
Bluetooth Connection Precautions
Bluetooth signal range and reception can be affected by:
- Obstacles like walls, metal, or human bodies between devices.
- Proximity to equipment using 2.4 GHz signals (Wi-Fi, microwaves).
- Performance of non-mobile phone Bluetooth devices (TVs, laptops).
Potentially Explosive Atmosphere
Turn off the device in areas with potentially explosive atmospheres to prevent sparks that could cause explosions or fires.
Emergency Calls
IMPORTANT: This headset and connected device rely on radio signals and networks, which cannot guarantee connection under all conditions. Never rely solely on electronic devices for essential communications like medical emergencies. Ensure the headset and device are powered on and in a service area with adequate signal strength for calls. Emergency call availability may vary by network and features.
Battery Information
Rechargeable batteries have a long service life if treated properly. New or long-unused batteries may have reduced capacity initially. Avoid extreme temperatures (above +50°C/+122°F or below -10°C/+14°F). For maximum capacity, use at room temperature. Battery capacity reduces in low temperatures. Charging is only possible between 0°C (+32°F) and +45°C (+113°F).
Recycling the Battery
Dispose of the battery properly; do not place it in municipal waste. Contact an LG Electronics service partner for disposal according to local regulations. For product recycling, call (800) 822-8837 or visit www.call2recycle.org.
Limited Warranty
LG Electronics warrants this product against defects in design, material, and workmanship for one (1) year from the original purchase date. Contact your dealer or LG Electronics for warranty service. The warranty covers the remaining period of the original warranty or 90 days from repair, whichever is longer. LG Electronics may use reconditioned units for repair/replacement. Replaced parts become LG property.
This warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, misuse, accidents, unauthorized modifications, acts of God, or liquid damage. It also excludes failures from improper installations or service by non-LG authorized personnel. Tampering with seals voids the warranty.
No express warranties beyond this printed one exist, including implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, which are limited to this warranty's duration. LG Electronics is not liable for incidental or consequential damages (lost profits, commercial loss) to the extent permitted by law.
Some regions may not allow limitations on incidental/consequential damages or implied warranty duration. This warranty does not affect statutory consumer rights.
Important Safety Information
Avoiding Hearing Damage
Using the headset at high volumes can cause permanent hearing loss. Set volume to a safe level. Over time, you may become accustomed to higher volumes that can be damaging. If you experience ringing in your ears or muffled speech, stop use and have your hearing checked.
Hearing experts suggest:
- Limit time used at high volume.
- Avoid turning volume up to block noise.
- Lower volume if you cannot hear people speaking nearby.
Using Headsets Safely
Listening to music while operating a vehicle is not recommended and may be illegal. Be attentive while driving. Stop using the device if it is disruptive or distracting.
