Speaker Volume

Quick Start

To increase volume by one level, press the button.

[Hand pressing button] VOL.+ 1

To mute or set to maximum volume, press and hold the button for 4 seconds.

[Hand pressing button for 4 seconds] MUTE / MAX VOL.

The device display shows various indicators: GAIN, DEPTH, TID (Target ID) with a large numerical display, VOL. (Volume), PINPOINT, BATT. (Battery), and 'All Metal' mode. The model is Q20.

Sensitivity

Quick Start

To adjust sensitivity by one level, press the button.

[Hand pressing button] +/- ONE LEVEL

To continuously adjust sensitivity, press and hold the button.

[Hand holding button] KEEP +/- SENSITIVITY

Various factors like power lines, electric fences, and buildings can cause electrical interference and false signals. Users can reduce sensitivity by pressing the downward triangle button. Sensitivity can be increased in low interference situations. It is recommended to maintain the highest possible sensitivity for best depth detection.

The device display shows indicators: GAIN, DEPTH, TID (Target ID) with a large numerical display, VOL. (Volume), PINPOINT, BATT. (Battery), and 'All Metal' mode. The model is Q20.

Program

Level-up

After powering on the detector, press the 'M' button once to select different modes.

Modes:

  • COIN MODE: Very stable, medium recovery speed, targets ancient or modern coins. TID range 40~99.
  • JEWELRY MODE: Very sensitive, high recovery speed, targets gold rings and jewelry items. TID range 20~99.
  • ALL METAL MODE: Very sensitive, high recovery speed, zero discrimination. Good for gold prospecting.

The device display shows indicators: GAIN, DEPTH, TID (Target ID) with a large numerical display, VOL. (Volume), PINPOINT, BATT. (Battery), and 'All Metal' mode. The model is Q20.

Graphical representations of Target ID scales are shown, with numbered segments from 10 to 90.

Pinpointing

Level-up

By pressing the PINPOINT button (the round button with a cross symbol ➕), the detector enters a non-motion mode and alarms to target without moving the coil. Users can use this function to pinpoint targets with a cross action, as illustrated.

Illustration shows the metal detector's coil and control unit. Arrows indicate a cross-action movement for pinpointing. A hand is shown pressing a button labeled 'HOLD'.

[Hand pressing button] HOLD

Quest recommends selecting the Xpointer for further assistance during digging to save time.

Ground Balancing

Level-up

The Q20 features a Ground Balancing (GB) function. It is recommended to perform GB every time you change the detecting area. Ensure no metal targets are under the coil during GB.

To perform GB, press and hold the square button while pumping the coil 6 inches (15 cm) above the ground, moving it to 1 inch above the ground. The ground condition will indicate two numbers while pumping. Stable numbers indicate GB is complete.

An illustration shows a person holding the metal detector, demonstrating the coil height of 6 inches (15 cm) above the ground. Another illustration shows the coil close to the ground. A hand is shown pressing a button labeled 'HOLD & PUMP'.

Discrimination

Level-up

Metal detectors calculate the metal I.D. through the conductivity of the metal. Highly conductive metals like silver show a higher digit on the screen. Lower conductive metals like iron show lower digits, typically under 25.

Users can select or deselect metal I.D.s to discriminate out undesired metal objects.

After powering on, press the 'M' button once. The bar under the digit gauge will flash. Use the Triangle buttons to scroll through and select bars you wish to discriminate out. Press 'M' to select/deselect and save. Once finished, press the Pinpoint button to return to a working condition.

The device display shows indicators: GAIN, DEPTH, TID (Target ID) with a large numerical display, VOL. (Volume), PINPOINT, BATT. (Battery), and 'All Metal' mode. The model is Q20.
