Assembly
Follow these steps to assemble your QuestPro:
Step 1: Handle and Rods
Attach the control box to the handle assembly. Connect the rod sections (upper, middle, lower) by sliding them together and securing them with the camlock mechanisms.
Visual Description: The diagram shows a hand holding the control box and sliding it onto the top rod section. Another diagram shows securing rod sections with screws and camlocks.
Step 2: Install the Coil
Connect the search coil to the lower rod. Ensure the coil cable is routed neatly along the rod and connected to the control box.
Visual Description: The diagram shows the coil being attached to the lower rod, with a hand tightening a bolt and washer. Another diagram shows the coil cable being plugged into the control box.
Power On/Off
To turn the QuestPro on or off, press and hold the power button for approximately 1 second.
Visual Description: A finger presses a button, with an arrow indicating 'ON'. Another sequence shows pressing and holding the button for '1 Sec' to turn 'OFF'.
Charge
Connect the magnetic USB charge cable to the device and a power source. A full charge takes approximately 4 hours.
Visual Description: The charging cable is plugged into the device and a wall outlet. Battery icons show a low charge progressing to a full charge.
Audio Settings
Using Loudspeaker or Wire Headphones:
- Press '+' to increase volume.
- Press '-' to decrease volume.
- Press and hold '-' for 4 seconds to mute/unmute the volume.
Using Pro Headphones:
- Press and hold the power button for 1 second to turn headphones on/off.
Visual Description: Diagrams show finger presses on buttons for volume adjustment and mute. Another diagram shows a finger pressing a button on the headphones.
Sensitivity Adjustment
Adjust the sensitivity to optimize performance and reduce false signals caused by electromagnetic interference (e.g., power lines, electric fences, buildings).
- Press the up/down triangle buttons to adjust sensitivity by one level.
- Press and hold the down triangle button for fast adjustment.
Maintain the highest possible sensitivity for best depth, especially in low interference situations.
Visual Description: Diagrams show finger presses on buttons for 'ONE LEVEL' adjustment and 'HOLD FAST +/- SENSITIVITY'.
Discrimination
The QuestPro calculates the metal I.D. based on conductivity. Higher conductivity metals (like silver) show higher digits, while lower conductivity metals (like iron) show lower digits (typically under 25).
The device features up to 40 bars for metal ID indication. You can select or deselect specific metal IDs to ignore undesired objects.
To adjust discrimination:
- After powering on, press the 'M' button once. The bar under the digit gauge will flash.
- Use the triangle buttons to scroll through and select the metal IDs you wish to discriminate.
- Press 'M' again to select/deselect and save your changes.
- Press the Pinpoint button to return to the working condition.
Visual Description: The screen shows a metal ID display with bars and the 'QUESTGO ON' status. Buttons for MODES, THRESHOLD, TID, MAN. G.C., TONES, FESEN, BAND, TONE SPACE, FREQ are indicated.
Programs
Scroll through various programs by pressing and holding the Ground Balance button while using the triangle buttons. Programs 1 and 2 are available for custom settings.
Preset Programs:
- Jewelry Mode: Very sensitive, high recovery speed, targets gold rings and jewelry. TID range 20-99.
- Coin Mode: Stable, medium recovery speed, targets ancient/modern coins. TID range 40-99.
- Gold Field Mode: High recovery speed, ZERO discrimination, ideal for gold prospecting. TID 0-99.
- Beach Mode: Normal sensitivity, low recovery speed, strong saltwater immunity. TID range 20-99.
- Cache Mode: Middle recovery speed for deeper penetration.
- 1,2 Modes: For customization settings.
Visual Description: Icons representing different programs (coin, jewelry, gold, beach, cache) are shown, followed by '1 2'. A diagram shows button presses for program selection.
Pinpointing
Press the Pinpoint button (round button with a cross sign) to enter non-motion mode. The detector will alarm when it detects a target without moving the coil. This function helps pinpoint targets with a cross action.
Target depth is indicated by the right bars; the lower the bar, the deeper the target.
It is recommended to use the Xpointer for further assistance during digging to save time.
Visual Description: A hand presses the Pinpoint button. Diagrams show the coil being moved in a cross pattern over a target. The screen displays target ID and depth bars.
Ground Balancing
The QuestPro features Ground Balancing (GB). It is recommended to perform GB every time you change the detecting area. Ensure no metal targets are under the coil during GB.
Upon successful ground balancing, the display will show "GC RESULT".
To perform Ground Balancing:
- Press and hold the square button.
- Pump the coil 6" (15cm) to 1" above the ground.
- While pumping, the ground condition will show two numbers. When these numbers stabilize, GB is complete.
The round bar with FE% indicates ground mineralization. The GC digits show the ground cancelling level.
If manual GB is needed on highly mineralized land, use the GC function in the menu.
Visual Description: Diagrams show the coil being pumped up and down near the ground. A hand presses a button. The screen displays 'QUESTGO ON' and ground condition indicators.
Tone Settings
TONES: Users can select different tones based on preference and detecting conditions.
TONE SPACE: Allows users to set the starting points for the middle and high tones. Use UP/DOWN buttons to choose the point when in the TONE SPACE menu.
FESEN (Sense of Ferrous): In trashy areas, iron signals can mask good signals. Activating FESEN can help detect good signals by reducing interference from iron. Note that FESEN may increase overall noise.
Visual Description: The screen shows tone-related indicators and button labels.
Bands (Frequencies)
The QuestPro transmitter operates on three selectable frequencies: 5kHz, 13kHz, and 20kHz. Quest is continuously improving algorithms for different frequencies and will provide updates via the QuestGo APP.
- 5kHz: Designed for deeper penetration, suitable for large, deep-buried items.
- 13kHz: General use frequency offering versatile performance.
- 20kHz: Ideal for finer items and trashier areas, though with lower depth. Suitable for gold fields.
Visual Description: The screen shows frequency indicators.
