Understanding Your Detector
Discrimination
The X5 allows you to select which metal targets to accept or reject. The screen displays five segments representing Target ID ranges. Black segments indicate rejected targets, while clear segments indicate accepted targets. The GOLD mode offers zero discrimination, suitable for electronic prospecting and archaeological surveys. PARK and FIELD modes come with pre-eliminated segments for common search scenarios.
To adjust discrimination:
- Momentarily press the POWER touchpad to highlight a segment.
- Touch the POWER touchpad again to reject (segment disappears) or accept (segment reappears) the highlighted segment.
- Use the UP or DOWN touchpads to move between segments.
- Press the PINPOINT touchpad to return to the search screen.
Changes to discrimination settings are saved even after the device is powered off.
Target ID & Indication Segments
The X5 categorizes metal signals into digit values from 1 to 99 based on conductivity. Higher conductivity results in a higher digit. Indication bars visually represent the target's ID range. The detector also indicates target depth, which can be influenced by soil conditions and nearby metal objects.
Tones
The X5 uses high and middle tones to help distinguish between different target IDs, allowing for quick auditory identification.
Programs
- PARK Mode: Stable, medium recovery speed, suitable for coins and jewelry. TID range 40-99.
- FIELD Mode: Sensitive, high recovery speed, targets gold rings and jewelry. TID range 20-99.
- GOLD Mode: High recovery speed, zero discrimination, ideal for gold prospecting. TID range 1-99.
Frequency Shift
To avoid interference from other detectors, you can shift the operational frequency. Press and hold the ground balance button while simultaneously clicking the volume adjustment buttons.
Detecting Techniques
- Swing: Swing the coil approximately 4cm above the ground, overlapping each pass to ensure no targets are missed.
- Pinpointing: Use the Xpointer (sold separately) to quickly locate targets. Gently sweep the Xpointer tip over the suspected area.
- Digging: Use a digger to excavate the soil. Aim for small, precise digging patterns. Remember to fill in any holes after you finish.
Headphones & Recharge
- Audio Output: The X5 has a built-in speaker and supports wired headphones via USB-C or a 3.5mm jack using the included adapter. Set audio volume low before wearing headphones to protect hearing.
- Recharge: Connect the provided USB-C cable to a USB port charger. The battery indicator will stop flashing when fully charged. A full charge takes approximately 4 hours.
Products Care
- General Care: Do not twist the coil cable or connectors. Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures. Do not use sharp objects on the touchpad. Avoid chemical cleaners, solvents, and insect repellents that may damage plastic components.
- Port Protection: Secure the weather cap tightly to protect the USB port. Even small amounts of sweat or moisture can cause corrosion on electrical contacts when connected to a charger.
- Cleaning: Wipe the device with a cloth dampened with a mild detergent solution, then wipe dry. For stubborn dirt, use a soft, clean, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water. Ensure the device is off and disconnected from power before cleaning with a damp cloth. Gently wipe the screen.
Troubleshooting
Issue | Solution |
---|---|
NOT POWER ON | No power, please recharge. Or contact your dealer. |
NO ALARM / OVERLOAD | Coil not connected to the control box. |
VERY NOISY / FALSING | Please find another place with less interference. |
NO SOUND | Make sure the Volume is not at ZERO level. |
FALSING WHEN SEARCHING IN GRASS | Please confirm the coil cable is not broken. |
Factory Reset: If issues persist, reset the X5 to factory settings. Turn the detector off, then press and hold the POWER touchpad for 5 seconds while powering on. All screen icons will illuminate, indicating the detector has been reset.
