Congratulations on your purchase of an ActronAir air conditioning system. This unit has been designed and manufactured with the highest quality standard in mind. Please read this manual carefully and keep it for future reference.

General Information

This manual provides instructions for two types of wall controllers: the standard 7-Day programmable model LM7 and the optional model LM24W. The LM7 series controllers have all the features of the LM24W series, plus the addition of a fully programmable 7-Day Timeclock.

Summer Operation: When the system is operating on COOLING CYCLE, room air is circulated through the filter and indoor unit, where heat, excess moisture, and dust are removed. The clean, cool air is returned to the room. Dust and other airborne particles are trapped in the filter, and condensed moisture is drained away. Indoor heat is transferred via refrigeration pipes to the outdoor unit, which exhausts it to the atmosphere.

Winter Operation: This is the reverse of summer operation. During the HEATING CYCLE, the outdoor unit extracts heat from the outside air and transfers it to the indoor unit via the same pipes. The circulated air is heated and returned to the rooms, filtered to reduce dust and other particles.

Safety and Operation Precautions

Access Panels and Guards: Never remove any access panels or guards, as this could cause injury from electric shock or burns from extremely hot components. Never allow body parts or objects to protrude through fan guards or any other opening, as this could cause personal injury and damage the air conditioner.

Supervision of Children and Infirm Person: This appliance is not intended for use by young children or infirm persons unless adequately supervised by a responsible person to ensure they can use the appliance safely. Young children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.

Return Air Filter: The air conditioner must never be operated without a return air filter, as this will allow dust to build up on the Indoor Coil, making it difficult to clean and causing the system to operate inefficiently or fail.

Crankcase Heater Precaution: The main power to the system must be kept ON at all times to prevent damage to the outdoor compressor unit. Should the main power be disconnected or interrupted for 6 hours or longer, do not attempt to start the system for 2 hours after power is restored. This allows the compressor to warm up and remove any liquid refrigerant that may cause damage.

Notice:

Operating Tips for Summer

  1. Always test run your air conditioner a few weeks before the start of summer to ensure it's cooling sufficiently. If servicing is needed, have it done before the season begins.
  2. On a HOT day: Start the air conditioner early in the morning to keep the house/office cool. Starting it when it's already very hot may take time to cool down. Keep curtains and windows closed, and stop drafts from doors. If using zones, turn off unused zones and close doors to those areas to provide more cooling capacity where needed. Ask your installer about minimum zones for your system.

Notice: Always allow the necessary amount of fresh air into rooms.

Operating Tips for Winter

  1. Always test run your air conditioner a few weeks before the start of summer and ensure it's cooling sufficiently. If servicing is needed, have it done before the season begins.
  2. On a COLD day: You can leave the air conditioner running overnight, lowering the set point by 2-4°C to save electricity. This prevents the house/office from becoming too cold, allowing quicker warming when the temperature is reset. Alternatively, start the air conditioner a couple of hours earlier in the morning. If outside conditions are very cold (approx. 7°C or lower), supplementary heating (electric or gas) may be used. Keep curtains and windows closed, and stop drafts from doors. If using zones, turn off unused zones and close doors to those areas to provide more heating capacity where needed. Ask your installer about minimum zones for your system.

Notice: Always allow the necessary amount of fresh air into rooms.

Energy Conservation Tips

  1. For most efficient operation, keep windows and doors closed, including unused areas. This insulates against heat/cold and reduces dust, pollen, and noise. Occasionally allow fresh air into closed rooms/offices.
  2. Overnight Use: In winter, set the thermostat down by 2°C to 4°C when going to bed and reset upon arising to save electricity. This also applies in summer, raising the temperature by 2°C to 4°C.
  3. Extreme Temperatures: On days with extreme High or Low temperatures when the home is unoccupied, it can be practical to leave the air conditioner ON. To reduce energy costs, set the temperature up 2°C to 4°C (Cool Mode) for summer and down 2°C to 4°C (Heat Mode) for winter, then reset upon returning. This provides a more comfortable situation and reduces the high heat load on the system.

The normal setting recommended is 22°C for both summer and winter. Raising the set point by 1°C in summer or lowering it by 1°C in winter can save approximately 10% on electricity costs.

Zoning: If your air conditioner has zones, always turn off unused zones to save energy.

Maintenance

Wall Controller

Wipe the controller with a dry cloth. Do not use water.

Outlets and Return Air

Dust off the outlets and return air using a household duster regularly to prevent dust or dirt build-up.

Air Filter Cleaning

Clean every 4 weeks or when the filter light is displayed on the wall control.

  1. Open the inlet grille. Caution: dust may fall from the return air grille.
  2. Remove the filter by sliding it out from the grille.
  3. Clean the filter using a vacuum cleaner or wash with water. Be gentle to avoid tearing the filter material.
  4. Replace filter.

Notice:

Unit Maintenance:

  1. Do not obstruct airflow.
  2. Keep grass or plants away from the unit to ensure efficient operation.

Regular servicing by a qualified technician is recommended every 12 months for residential applications and every quarter for commercial applications.
