Anko Mini Crochet Kit Cow Instruction Manual
Basic Crochet Stitch Diagram
1. Stitch (Abbreviated 'st')
Create a slip knot by looping yarn around two fingers, pulling the tail halfway through the loop. Insert the crochet hook into the second loop and gently pull the loop onto the hook.
2. Chain Stitch (Abbreviated 'ch')
The chain stitch is the basis for all crochet, also called a foundation chain.
3. Slip Stitch (Abbreviated 'sl st')
The slip stitch is the flattest and smallest crochet stitch. It can be used to join the ends of a foundation chain to form a ring.
4. Single Crochet (Abbreviated 'sc')
The single crochet is the most fundamental stitch. Yarn over the hook, insert the hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through two loops on the hook.
5. Increase (Abbreviated 'inc')
To increase stitches, make two single crochets in the same stitch.
6. Decrease (Abbreviated 'dec')
To decrease stitches, insert hook into the first stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop (2 loops on hook). Insert hook into the next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook). Yarn over and pull through all three loops.
7. Magic Ring
A magic ring is an adjustable starting round used for amigurumi and other patterns. Form a loop with yarn. Insert hook through the loop, grab the yarn, pull it through the ring, and make a chain stitch. Work your first row of stitches into the ring. Pull the yarn ends to tighten the ring.
8. Round (Abbreviated 'Rd')
Rounds continue from chain stitches into a circle. Each round starts with a chain stitch and ends with a slip stitch.
9. Sewing
Generally used for connecting two parts. Thread yarn onto a plastic needle and pass it through the corresponding knots where parts need to be connected. Use small stitches to represent facial features etc. Hide excess threads inside the piece.
10. Fasten Off (Abbreviated 'F/O')
Pull the yarn through the end stitch and pull it out. Cut the yarn.
11. Weaving In/Invisible Close
Cut the yarn leaving a long tail. Thread the tail onto a yarn needle. Weave the needle through the front loops only of the last round and pull tight. Weave remaining yarn into the piece.
12. Insert Your Hook Into 2nd Back Hoop
Insert hook into the second back loop of the previous stitch.
